Join us on Thursday, 28th of May at 7PM, where @marianlenhard will give us an insight into his photographic long term project “Karst”. Everyone is welcome.

“KARST” explores the possibility of a multi-factorially layered landscape. The setting is the Franconian Switzerland (Fränkische Schweiz) in Bavaria. At first glance, it is a charming landscape of valleys and plateaus, shaped by ancient villages and vibrant
traditions. Beneath it lie hundreds of complex cave systems spanning over kilometers, which historically played a significant role—both as places of myth-making and as sanctuaries in times of great distress.
The photographic process is characterized by vertical exploration, a visual deep dive
through the geographical, historical, and social layers of this region. Traces of transgenerational trauma from the National Socialist era thus stand alongside moments of great beauty in a rural place of longing. This irresolvable juxtaposition is a central point in the approach of a photographer who calls this place home. On Bornholm, initial classifications and series are being developed within this complex of themes, which is expected to take some years to complete.

Dr. Hochgeschwender im Amerikahaus in München illustrieren durfte ✨ by @marianlenhard
