My brother was born with a heart of gold. When he turned 10 years old, he asked his friends to donate money to PCRF (Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation) in lieu of birthday presents for his roller birthday party at holiday skate center. My mom’s best friend, his “Aunt” Robin (@robinreed_ ‘s namesake) had just passed away of cancer and he wanted to try and help other people like her, and especially other kids like him.

He later went on to shave his head in solidarity with my best friend @edensunflower when she lost her hair from lymphoma. He also helped raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma society by doing a car show with the exotic car company he founded with his best friend @paulwalker. He dedicated so much of his life to helping others with cancer, even before he got sick himself.

"I thought of all the presents just for me. I thought that I could donate money for PCRF cancer foundation as a present for a lot more people than just me. Because they deserve birthdays too.

So, I decided to donate money to the PCRF cancer foundation because I know I would not like to have cancer and not be able to go out and play when I wanted to and to have parties and stuff like that. Because I would not like that probably other kids would not like it either. So I just thought it would be nice to donate money to the PCRF cancer foundation so these kids could have the advantages we have too." -Nicholas Reed, age 10 by @mariareedd

With shattered hearts we share that our big brother, Nicholas Barry Reed, is now our angel. The most incredible brother, son, Nene, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, superhero we could have ever asked for. He deserved so much more than this life had to offer him, and yet he accomplished more in his short life than most do in a lifetime. In honor of the Eddie happening for the first time in 7 years on Sunday, the last Eddie in 2016 has been on my mind all week - probably the coolest thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life. Camped on the side of Kamehameha Hwy and got to watch a bunch of legends ride the 50+ ft swells that rolled into Waimea. #wavestock 🌊

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY TO MY BEST BUD!!! Harlan Wilder. Champion of the universe and captain of my heart. The boy that made me an auntie. My favorite days are spent catchin’ waves & catchin’ sandcrabs with him and my favorite nights are spent sharing pizza and going to baseball games or movies until we get in trouble for coming home too late. But most of all, my favorite thing is watching him grow into the most brilliant, adventurous, and loving boy. 💙
