thank you to the Most High fr. I am still blessed that I’ve had the opportunity to express what the Divine moves thru me. The ancient ones was in the building fr. We saw, we created, we made music and more… 🥹Thank you to everyOne who supported this offering and made it so easy to Give. This was more than a show but I am glad that I got to share my heart with you all in this way. As I recollect, I give thanks. Many thanks to @michelebluyoga who hosted my art and us in her beautiful space. My art adorned her soace for 3 months. Please tap into her for kemetic yoga, your space needs n more. There’s MORE. @philip.muriel DM’ed me today saying i was on his tv screen! I hadn’t realized they’d shown some of my interview. I am so grateful i said YES to “leading a drum circle” at the Banneker-Douglass Tubman Museum. I was saying yes to that and more. To be honest, I was a little nervous because I’d agreed to do it only 3 days in advance during a busy week. But on the day of, I sat and said to myself: “You said yes, now go do it well!” I knew it’d be unlikely that folks would have drums so I had to get creative. How to get a group if strangers to get strange and sonic with me? I played conductor and we made sounds with our original instruments: ourselves! I thank @inwarddiscovery because the dj game i learned during summer programming with them was a big inspo. I began the space telling the story of the djembe, it’s symbolism and origins and also read my poem “Mighty We” which speaks to the honor in recognizing we are in this TOGETHER. Then— we made sound! Re’watching these videos and seeing the smiles on people’s faces brings a huge smile on my heart. Show up and share your gifts. The gifts in reverence:Creativity, Facilitation, Quick Mindedness and Spirit. I have a passion for finding creative ways to get people to express by whatever means necessary. Through willingness of course. It shows up in every facet of my life. My life’s work is truly my life’s work. Gratitude to @bannekerdouglasstubmanmuseum for holding this AMAZING event which really shined light on black and african legacies here in America. Y’all really did that. Thank you @michelebluyoga for the referral and yes i have my @blutreasures shorts on. And also thank you to @museummuslimah 🙏🏾Blessings and maybe more on the aforementioned at a later date 💛🥁✨ — in the meantime please keep me in mind for creative facilitation, cultural programming and even drum accompaniment. All In honor of the GRAND OPENING of the North Avenue Farmer’s Market!This even is FULL of Divine offerings, come for the art, nourishment, and more ! Flicks and pics are from past nature inspired art activations I’ve facilitated for ALL ages. Including but limited to workshops, after school programs , school murals, Happy Nappy Day in Gwynn Oak and more 💚⛲️🌷 NATURE is a constant muse because this Earth holds us with LOVE ! i thought to myself, “you know, last i sent a word to this friend the honey suckles had just signaled their intent.. what if i we chat again once they have bloomed?”The thought really sparked something. I think more than a plan or a structure- it was an acknowledgment. Sometimes things (like love, remembering, deciding) move (when we dont force it) in the same way the earth does. Slowly… but surely. Rapidly, and shortlived. Etc. There is no one way, but there are certainly ways. 👅Im observing more. Noticing: the birds and when they gather, how long the daffodils bloom, what distance it takes for the scent of honeysuckle to hit my nose before my sight… Anyway, im considering intentionally timing certain things in alignment with the natural things i observe. No rush, and no hold up ya feel me. /Oh and my friend and i did have a call by the time the bush was fully bursting with yellow fragrant flowers. 😌✌🏽 by @maridianskyy
