‼️🗞️ROUND 1: NEWSPAPER DADDY🚨🧔🏻‍♂️ @dragduel

Medicine is a big part of queer history. The HIV/AIDS crisis took an entire generation from us, while society and even our own community was driven by shame, prejudice and stigma.

We went from HIV taking countless lives to the present day, where people living with HIV can live long, healthy lives. Where treatment can make HIV undetectable and therefore untransmittable. U=U.

For this look, I decided to portray a cartoonish Daddy inspired by the drawings of Tom of Finland, leather and kink culture, using old newspapers from that era to celebrate how far we’ve come not only medically, but also to say that there should be no shame in living your sexual life the way you want to (always with consent).

But this runway became something much more personal.

This year (and after doing this look) I decided to go the Pride parade of my city out of drag (the first timesince starting drag) and for the first time in a long time, I felt genuinely good in my body, my masculinity and my sexuality mending my relationship with something that had been taken away from me.( More on that in Episode 2)

So, for the first time, Marie became a Drag King and I absolutely fell in love with this side of my drag. And this is definitely just the start😋

As a soon-to-be doctor, I have a responsibility to be part of that change: to make sure those lives are never forgotten, but remembered in power. Bringing queer medicine, queer history and even my own experiences into my art feels incredibly special.

Because to me, drag is and always will be political.

For my queer icon I wanted to represent mi gente latino✊✊✊✊ so I decided to do this extra colorful yet elegant version representation of la muher mas iconice de MEHICO‼️‼️‼️‼️

Frida was an openly bisexual artist who lived in a deeply conservative society. She constantly challenged gender norms, embraced masculinity and femininity, and refused to fit into society’s expectations of what a woman should be. Her art show us a journey about identity, sexuality, pain and her legacy is a reminder that queerness is about the freedom to define ourselves.

I had some pizza carboard, foam clay and a dream🥹 thank you to @monique.fatigue for printing and cutting my armpieces, abdomen and leg designs, to @misspinay_colada @thewigdoctormunich for this pigtailed bob fantasy and @francomorenopino who I didn't bully to take these pics🩵

And the last one of this trilogy. I took inspo from my Melanie Martinez Portals look from some years ago and took it to my own crazy fairy world. I wanted to do the complete opposite to my b&w runway, fun, goofy, colorful and biggggg💖 the Makeup is just insane and I'm so proud of how this turned up and how versatile I have become as an artist🥹🥹🥹. And this long journey it's officially over🫶 Like I said in my confessional sometimes we give people something as beautiful as a lilly flower and eventho they can appreciate it, they won't want to keep and that is okay. In Alexa's case she took the lilly flower burnt it and vomit on it🥰🥰🥰 I'm extremely proud of my journey and even more of my evolution and my performances that if I may say myself were the best (I'm the lipsync assassin so I lowk gained that right)

Forever grateful to @thealexaterrestrial @t4drag @aislinlove @bruniferooo and @ihatehuntyhex for such a great season and the opportunity to show my drag on such a platform🩷
