As an experiment against the grain of elaborate plans, this year I decided not to decide. When questioned whether I would attend that thing in the desert, I simply said that I won’t know until I know. The only way it would happen is if I felt in flow. My final verdict came on the Monday prior to gates opening. The logistics fell into place shortly thereafter. I enjoyed being a tourist in open camping with a group of wonderful free range clowny folk. My only goal was to pay tribute to the friends we lost this year by including their tributes and photos in the temple. Each one of these friends held the burn in high regard. While it’s natural to feel a tinge of melancholy after what was an overall positive experience, I am left with a deep yearning for more authenticity and light. I will continue chasing the sunsets and sunrises as long as I am able. Afterwards, the cycle will begin anew. Wishing everyone a beautiful start to the autumn season. May you find joy in doing that which sets your heart on fire.

10 years ago, the @prodigal_swan made its first journey across the Black Rock Desert. It was our very first venture towards what would eventually evolve into our full-time careers as large-scale installation and art car fabricators. Swan build lead @breefield was the only one of our crew who had previously created a metal project for the burn. Bree taught us a lot about welding and dedication. We bought the shell and base vehicle of a decommissioned art car called Beezus Christ Supercar, and began the project in Bree’s studio at M0xy in Oakland. @kevinbracken led the fundraising efforts, while my role was in creative direction support, as well as making the designs for all of our fundraising merch and perks. @justin.b.watts and @jamiejwatts provided big support behind the scenes and were major players in this very first stab at collaborating on something bigger than ourselves. Notable mentions to @ellisbriery and @davidslostdays, who helped Bree with the multi-month buildout. As well as @storal12, and Dennis Ivannov–who shot our beautiful fundraiser video. Kevin and I relocated to Oakland for the final month of build and helped the swan cross over the finish line. Working at the shop sparked something divine in all of us. We have all since moved on to other ventures in life and only see each other a few times a year at most. However, seeing the swan attend the burn year after year, always reminds me why we do what we do. Happy decade to you, little bird.

What happens when 300 people create something together? 🌹

For our last floral themed Solara event, we wanted to create something that everyone in the room could actually be a part of.

Each guest received a rose petal and was invited to breathe an intention into it. Something they’re dreaming about, working toward, or hoping to see bloom in the season ahead.

Then we gathered every petal, crushed them into a paste, mixed them directly into the paint, and watched as our beautiful artist @mariedacat brought to life a one-of-one piece created live throughout the night.

By the end of the evening, hundreds of individual intentions had become one collective work of art.

The finished painting was auctioned to one of our amazing community members @wolfofitness

This is one of our favorite things about creating Ritual experiences. We don’t just want you to come to an event and watch something happen.

We want you to be part of making it happen.

Thank you to every person who added a petal, an intention, and a little piece of themselves to this one. May everything we planted together continue to bloom. 🌹 taken in Bel-Aire Backyard by @mariedacat

Solara, a midsummer night themed gathering that took place during the Lion’s Gate Portal celestial event. Everyone who came received a live rose petal. These sacred petals were held by the guests as vessels for manifesting their intentions. We collected the petals and milled them into a dust that I mixed with my paint. I painted the petals, immortalizing the collective dream into the artwork. Thank you @ritualcollective_ for sharing the vision and creating a space to dance, dream, and connect with our higher selves.

The Centaur-Fold. Art directing this work was a dream come true. One of our biggest installations to date. So proud of our team at @madeonmars.art for all the hard work helping bring this sculpture form our workshop in Las Vegas to @electric_forest in Michigan for the 2026 Festival. So grateful to Nova Han and the creative team at EF for the opportunity. taken in Electric Forest by @mariedacat

If you’ve been to our events, you’ve probably seen our painting pixie, @mariedacat ✨

While we dance, play and do our thing, Marie is creating a masterpiece right in the middle of it all.

Before each event, she dreams up a concept inspired by the theme then brings it to life in real time. It’s a living reflection of the night, the people and the energy we create together.

At the end of it all, her paintings hold the memory. You can place a bid during the event and take a piece of the experience home with you. She also does commissions!

And beyond the canvas, she’s building worlds, from immersive installations to mutant vehicles and running her company @madeonmars.art
