What a joy it was to host our WOFB Good News Partners Small Group in my home yesterday! Our time together was filled with warm fellowship, delicious food, love, laughter, and a beautiful spirit of peace.

My grandparents lived the dream, and I don’t mean that in the sense of having financial wealth. My grandfather was a sharecropper with an eighth grade education. He and my grandma were married for over 65 years and had 14 children (yes, I said 14😏) while living in a three bedroom home.

So this isn’t about money at all…it’s so much bigger than that. It is about legacy.

They loved the Lord with all of their heart, and they raised their children, their children’s children, and their children’s children’s children to know God. That has been a staple that has kept our family connected and united through the love of Christ and the love for each other for generations.

I constantly remember my grandmother telling us over and over again, anytime we would fight or have a disagreement about anything, “Y’all need to love one another.”

That legacy remains today.

You can see it in the ways that we gather every Saturday morning at 7am on our family prayer line to pray together and to connect. You can see it in our family gatherings like the one we had this past weekend where we get to see each other face to face and get all the kids together. That legacy planted by Mose and Beatrice Jones is alive, strong, and well in us.

This past weekend when we gathered for the Jones Family Fun Day in Monroe, LA and then went to Pleasant Star Baptist Church, our grandparents’ church in Winnsboro, LA, reminded me of all the reasons why I’m so proud to be part of the Jones family.
