It was wonderful to connect with such an engaged community, and the thoughtful questions from the audience made the event even better. This is just one of many collaborations with the Cobb County Public Library, so stay tuned for more events. We’d love to see you at the next one! by @mariettamuseum

Tickets now on sale for our upcoming symposium, “Before, At, and Beyond 250: Indigenous Cultural History in Georgia,” on Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 15. The weekend will feature scholars and local experts, engendering discussion, learning, and reflection on Native American history before, at, and beyond the founding of the United States.

“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to recognize the many peoples and cultures that shaped this nation before, at, and beyond 1776,” said Amy Reed, MHC Director. “The land that would become Marietta and Cobb County was home to Indigenous peoples at the time of our nation’s founding. Our symposium brings these important stories forward and reminds us that Indigenous history is American history.”

The symposium is part of the Marietta History Center’s ongoing recognition of America’s 250th anniversary (America250), connecting local and national stories through history, art, and civic dialogue.

Get your tickets now for either the full symposium or for individual days. Link in bio. Registration is required for these programs. Museum Supporters at the Museum Explorer level and above can receive FREE tickets by email Lisa Oestreicher at LOestreicher@MariettaGa.gov by @mariettamuseum

🏛️ Proud moment for the Marietta History Center!

Earlier this week, our Collections Manager, Christa McCay, had the honor of presenting not once, but twice at the Southeastern Museums Conference-SEMC in Winston-Salem, NC, as SEMC celebrates its 75th anniversary!

Christa's sessions:
✨ "What is Ethical?" – a closer look at ethics in museum work
🛍️ "The Shoppable Exhibit" – a look at our Museum Store (and yes, she brought a few little Big Chickens along for the trip! 🐔)

Organizations like SEMC give the MHC and museums across the Southeast the chance to learn, share ideas, and celebrate the important work we do. We're grateful to be part of this community. by @mariettamuseum
