LIVING SCULPTURES

Throughout my art practice, I have developed something that I call LIVING SCULPTURES.

It is a form of site-specific performance art where I embody the essence of historic and powerful spaces.

I work with mythology and the energetic imprint of each space, whether a historic monument or a power site to develop performances that not only enter into a dialogue with it but allow my body to become a vessel through which the architecture, history and memory can be felt.

Recent works include:

1. Persephone at El Sanctuario, Mexico @elsantuariovalle with @osiris_signossonoros . This work connected two mystical places one in Mexico and other in France: beautiful El Sanctuario with Chartres cathedral in France and showed Persephone’s descent into the underworld as a result of which she became the Queen.

2. White Swan at the Louvre museum in Paris. This was the early precursor to “La Famme Cygne” and the early awakening of one of the main archetypes that I now work with, within one of the most symbolically charged art-spaces in the world.

3. Black Swan at the Louvre Museum.
This was a collaboration with a talented fashion designer and couturier Jocelyn Ng @joccelynofficial. Black Swan was a counterpoint of femininity and power that revealed the deeper, more instinctive dimensions of the feminine within the same architectural context.

La Femme Cygne 🦢

Mythology and Fashion- Embodied.

🦢 It was such a delight to bring to life the mythology of “La Femme Cygne” (Swan Maiden) and embody her magic in live performance via zoom as part of @ecc_performanceart lead by @martajmartajmartaj. Thank you!

🦢At the heart of “La Femme Cygne” lies a story of a woman who is both human and swan. This mythological tale draws inspiration from the legend of “Leda and the Swan” where Zeus disguised as swan seduced Leda. The union gave birth to two twins, one mortal and one divine, Castor and Pollux, symbolizing the ecstasy of meeting between humanity and divinity.
Through this lens “La Femme Cygne” centers in the magic and creatine energy born from this union and explores the transformative power of eros, beauty, love, magic and taken in Paris, France by @marija.gallery

In the myth, the god Zeus turned into a swan and seduced Leda, Queen of Sparta.
The event had huge consequences, according to classical mythology: Leda’s intercourse with the swan and then with her husband, King Tyndareus, resulted in two eggs, from which hatched Helen, Clytemnestra and the twins Castor and Pollux. by @marija.gallery

He is exactly my type of man. His masculinity, the way he looks, his energy, his Sun on fixed star Regulus tightly hugging my Eros.

He lit up my world from the very first time we met several years ago. I felt a profound sense of respect for him, accompanied by an undeniable desire.

Desire and devotion.

Venus retrograde in Scorpio brought him back into my world.

I am no longer the woman I was when we first met. I am proud of the life I am creating. I stand on the brink of living my dreams. Surely, I thought, things will be different this time.

We met on a dazzling, rainy evening in Paris.

The city was glowing, and so was I.

My heart was humming.

My senses were alive.

I could feel myself being drawn into the intoxicating gravitational pull of our connection.

As the night progressed, I could almost touch the descent before it began. And yet, I’ve chosen to follow my north star into the uncharted territory.

The following morning, I woke up to find him already in a meeting.

His presence had receded.

The intimacy of the night before had given way to an ordinary morning.

My emotions froze.

And suddenly, I was no longer entirely the woman I had worked so hard to become.

Somewhere beneath my woman a little girl emerged, a child who had lost her father too soon and who, perhaps, had spent a lifetime searching for the protection, security, and unwavering presence she lost. The distance between us was no longer simply the distance between two adults.

There I was, in the deepest blacks of the underworld.

Regressed.

Exposed.

In pain.

Beneath the sophisticated woman and carefully constructed sense of self, was a little girl terrified of abandonment.

And there, deep in the Scorpionic underworld, I met my Venus.

🦢 La Femme Cygne is a multi-media art project by Marija Milicevic that explores the magic of creative force that transforms imagination into art. Drawing from mythology, the work examines sixteen feminine archetypes, including the Swan Maiden, Leda, Psyche, Helen of Troy, Persephone, Melusina etc, tracing their connection to the symbol of the swan and the mysterious interplay between human and the divine.

During Paris Fashion Week, I had the great honour and pleasure of doing a showroom and a shoot for a haute couture designer whose work was being showcased at the iconic Ritz Paris. ✨

There couldn’t have been a more fitting setting.

Ritz Paris is one of the most historic places in Paris, deeply intertwined with the world of fashion. It was home to Coco Chanel for 30 years, just steps away from her atelier on Rue Cambon.

Karl Lagerfeld, a frequent visitor himself, famously staged a major Chanel fashion show inside the Imperial Suite at the Ritz Paris.

Audrey Hepburn stayed at this legendary property, which also appeared in several classic films.

And fashion visionaries including Gianni Versace and Oscar de la Renta frequently stayed and gathered at the hotel during their time in Paris.

So, naturally, the look had to make a statement. ❤️

I wore a dramatic red dress paired with two dramatic tulle accessories. The brief was simple:

The Birth of Psyche

In the mythology, born mortal and forbidden to look upon the god she loved, Psyche loses Eros through doubt and must endure a series of impossible trials to reunite with him and realize their love.

Psyche is a woman who is brave enough to dare to live the exalted Venus in her life.

Psyche is a woman who is prepared to risk it all, even life itself to experience and live her unique version of cosmic love.

Psyche is a woman who is gifted with enough love to dare to reject all known models of love: ancestrally inherited and/or learned from the environment and culture and instead forge her own version.

🧜‍♀️THE MOST DANGEROUS CREATURE

The myth of Odyssey follows Odysseus, a great hero, the king of Ithaca as he tries to return home after the 10-year Trojan War .

His decade-long voyage home is filled with flashbacks, guilt over wartime actions, and encounters with mythical beings. He especially heeds advice from the goddess Circe who warns him about the “Sirens.”

These monsters, who pretend to be beautiful women with enchanting voices, try to assure sailors, who pass their island, that they just want to entertain them with beautiful melodies.

What they really want, however, is to kill them.

The siren archetype is a powerful symbol of hypnotic presence, primal sensual energy, and an irresistible, otherworldly allure capable of a deep dive into the land of desires, depths of the subconscious underworld, the shadows, the dark in order to orchestrates death on an ego and births the true essence. #theodyssey #odyssée #sirensong #sirens by @marija.gallery

Last two weeks of July were filled with creations of art.

We had 3 different photo/video shoots: in Paris, Switzerland and Loire valley with 3 international teams, one as far as Australia.

Travel and work schedules were intense but every moment was full of art and creativity, beautiful backdrops and magic.

Final shoot was a bridal shoot in the heart of France, Loire Valley with an Australian photographer.
Backdrop of a château perched above Loire, bathed in golden light was magical. It was at the very place where, one of the most genius and magical artists, Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years. I could still sense his spirit today.

Weddings dresses by several Australian designers were gorgeous and I had mermaid curls in my long hear.
When we shot in front of the chateo Ambois, a couple of swans appeared to grace the works.
The day was magical.

When we finished the shot, it was already late and we were struggling to find any restaurants still open for dinner.

We went to the closest one and it turns out it was the finest French gastronomical experience with amazing quality of food, masterful preparation and artful presentation.

That day, i realized that when you create art, life gives you back art. Of course! by @marija.gallery

Pomme de New York by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne was the star of Christie’s Paris auction on April 15, 2026, selling for more than €6 million.

People often point to record-breaking auction results as proof that art is a great investment. Statistically, it is not. Exceptional sales make headlines, but they are outliers rather than evidence of a reliable asset class.

More importantly, art’s true value is not measured in financial returns. Its value lies in its ability to inspire, awaken, challenge, and transform. In the ancient world, art served a deeper purpose: it was used to heal, connect people with the divine, and foster prosperity and harmony within communities.
