I still remember being told: “You’ll never run more than 10 km again.” That was in 2021, after a knee injury forced me to stop completely.
In August 2024, I carefully found my way back after months of strength training. By May 2025, I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon. And yesterday, May 2026… I’ve become an ultrarunner 💪🔥
Yes, it hurt. Yes, my body protested at times. But it never broke me.
Instead, it carried me through the most beautiful landscapes and one of the most unforgettable journeys I’ve ever experienced.
I’m incredibly grateful for the support I get from @frederik_desloovere and the kids, it means more than I can put into words ❤️🫶💚
Nutrition-wise, everything just clicked: the combination of @precisionfandh with @tailwindnutritionbenelux worked perfectly. No stomach problems, steady energy… all the way to the finish line.
And last but not least, I don't know if I would have been able to complete my first Ultra without the guidance and training from @ascendtrail.app 🙏

What a weekend! 🤩
Attended the very first edition of the @kriekepotkeeponrunningfestival 🎉

Saturday’s original plan was the 14k night trail, but after being ill for two weeks, reality called for the 6k instead 😅 Still super happy with how it went, finished 63rd out of 197! My shoes and headlamp 🔦 performed great, so no complaints here.

A short night’s sleep later, we were back for the kids’ races at 9:45. Fieje had a blast in the Kidsrun 💪

At 11:00 AM, I joined Ilias for his 5k. He struggled a bit with the heat and elevation, but still crushed a huge 5k PR! 🔥

Sunny weather, great family vibes, and a awesome festival atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back next year! ☀️ taken in De Schorre by @marijke_running

Missed this more than I thought 🫣
During our holiday in France, I slipped on my last run and took a nasty fall on my left hip. I decided to wait until after my osteopath appointment, and that turned out to be the right decision. My whole body was carrying a lot of tension, especially on the left side.
I gave myself the time to recover properly, and seeing a training readiness score of 100 yesterday morning confirmed that it had been a smart move.
Today’s run felt easy in every possible way. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time running felt this effortless. And for once, I’m grateful for the rainy weather. 🙏🏃‍♀️🌧️

Long time no post! 🫣 You know how it goes, life gets busy, and social media takes a back seat 🤷🏼‍♀️
We slowed things down during the heatwave, trading running for walking, but we kept moving 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️
The dogs were beyond happy with their forest trips, and honestly, so was I 🤩
Coming back to all the new IG features feels like stepping into a whole new app 😅

Grateful and proud ✨

Grateful that, just 12 days after my first ultra, I was able to comfortably run 12.5 km again and finish my first week back with 21 km 💪🔥 I feel proud that I prepared my body so well… and that it now proves how strong it truly is.
Grateful for the precious time I get to spend with the kids, and how naturally everything seems to fall into place 🙏
Grateful for last weekend, where I experienced what an amazing community the sauna world is, so many kind and beautiful people 🤩
And beyond proud of @frederik_desloovere for his 8th place in the Modern Classic Cup Belgium 👏🎉
Grateful that we both get to follow our passions and support each other along the way 🫶💚 And honestly… that makes me incredibly proud of us 🥰 by @marijke_running

Ease-in week… and I’m loving it 🤩 One week without running was more than enough 😅
I know my body really needed that time to recover from my ultra adventure. My muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones went through more than I could feel on the outside 😉
I started Monday with a short, easy run, had my osteo check-up yesterday, and today I enjoyed an easy 5K. The best part of running this slow? I get to take in the beautiful views even more 🥰 by @marijke_running

Official photo dump 😅🤩 One week later and I’m still completely over the moon about this experience. It definitely left me wanting more ☺️
Following the advice of @ascendtrail.app and @balance_personal_training I’m taking a full week off from running… and wow, it’s harder than expected 🫣 Running has become so much more than just chasing PRs.
I’m incredibly grateful for everything this ultra journey has brought me, the lessons learned, the new friendships, and a whole new level of respect for my body 🙏
Huge thank you to @flex_olsene @emmyleereyne for always putting me back together when I pushed things a little too far 😅
And thank you to everyone who followed my journey, sent messages, and supported me along the way 🫶 it truly means a lot.

It’s getting real now 😬 Bib collected this morning and spent some time soaking in the atmosphere with a bit of sightseeing.
Watching Manuela finish the 100M was absolutely inspiring 🔥
Everything is packed… now let’s hope I’m as ready as my gear 😂 Feeling a mix of excitement, pride, and pure happiness knowing I’ll be at that start line tomorrow morning.

Finally time to reflect on the past weekend 😅
A full weekend of training with @marlon_boogk and both dogs and what can I say? They absolutely worked their pants off. So many fantastic moments 🤩
And yes… still plenty of work to do on my handling skills 🫣😂
But the very best part? @frederik_desloovere watched almost all my runs and even surprised me with flowers on Mother’s Day because, as he said, it’s a special day for a bonus mum too 🥹🥰💚 taken in Staden, Belgium by @marijke_running
