My heart hurts to say goodbye to my grandpa Stan, who passed away last week. It’s so hard to lose him, but I’ll carry his lessons, his wisdom, his love, and countless cherished memories with me always. I’m relearning how to dance through the pain, but with each step, I’m getting closer to where I was — and in some ways, even moving past it.

I've always been a giver, pouring my time, energy, and love into others. But when you give without refilling your own cup, eventually you burn out. This past year taught me that caring for myself isn't selfish.. it's necessary. Setting boundaries and making difficult changes has allowed me to slowly find joy again. Over the past two months, I've stepped back, refilled my cup, and made more room for the people who truly show up for me. I don't know exactly what's next, but I'm opening my heart to new possibilities and choosing myself for the first time in a long time. 💐 by @marikajaffe

Reflecting on this past season at @thedanceschooleverett fills my heart with so much love and gratitude. I loved all five of my classes this year 💛 Teaching such a talented and fun group has been a highlight of my last year at TDS. I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to resign from my role as Executive Director of The Dance School, my last day will be the last day of this season on June 15, 2024. Over the past seven years, my time at TDS has been filled with remarkable memories, challenges, and accomplishments. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served as Executive Director and to have been a part of such a vibrant and amazing community. I am truly honored to have worked alongside so many remarkable faculty members, dancers and their families, especially during the challenging times we faced together during the pandemic. Looking forward to my last few weeks and for our Year End Performance on June 8.

To students, families, faculty and TDS family - thank you for the privilege of serving as your Executive Director and for the countless memories over the past seven years. TDS holds, and will always hold, a special place in my heart. I will probably share more later, but I’m currently filled with tears and the best memories. Two months ago we celebrated our wedding, and it honestly feels like just yesterday. I wanted to take another moment to thank our friends and family who traveled across the world to celebrate our wedding, in a rice field, in the mountains of northern Thailand. When we sent the initial invitation we thought only 2-3 friends would make it, however having 35+ friends attend and dress in traditional Thai outfits and Karen hilltribe attire was soo special and was truly one of the best weekends of my life. The week before our wedding the states had crazy storm weather that hit across the country and caused many friend’s flights to be delayed, rerouted, and one friend drove through three blizzards to get to her flight in time, and yet you somehow all made it in time. Looking through our pictures I still get emotional and cry (happy tears only) and just want you to know I appreciate you so much. Soo much love 💕 — there are many friends not pictured in this post, as I’m limited to 10 pictures and 20 tags (thanks instagram) just know we love youuuu too. by @marikajaffe

Karen Wedding 01.20.24 ✨ I always wanted to have a Karen wedding ceremony. The Karen culture has always been a big part of my life, and I told Jason when he proposed that we would have to have a Karen Ceremony in my village — and if you told me we would end up having a wedding with 800+ people I wouldn’t believe you. Having Jason, our family and friends there meant the world to me. My mom planned and coordinated this big day for us, and it was more than I could have ever dreamed of.
