Ahhhhh, Sonoma. ❤️ My love. A region that captivated my heart more than 25 years ago and still pulls me back every time.

There’s something so magical about this place: the beauty, the diversity, and driving along Route 1 through the Sonoma Coast thinking, “Where the hell do they grow grapes around here?” 😂

And then there’s the dramatic climate shift. It could be 80° in the town of Sonoma to 55° in Bodega Bay but you don’t care because you’re slurping some of the best oysters the West Coast has to offer. 🦪

From foggy coastal vineyards to mountain sites and valley floors, Sonoma just keeps you guessing.

I’m thrilled to bring a little of that Sonoma love to Santa Fe this Friday moderating 'Mountain, Coast & Valley: A Sonoma Conversation' at the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta.

I’ll be joined by these fabulous producers: Stuart Bryan of Pride Mountain Vineyards, Prema Kerollis of Three Sticks Wines, and Michelle Wing of Gary Farrell Winery. We'll taste and talk about the places, soils, climate and choices that make Sonoma so damn fascinating.

Discovering Greece One Glass at a Time 🇬🇷 | Part 3: The Legacy Continues

If Assyrtiko is now considered one of the world’s great white grapes, Paris Sigalas deserves much of the credit for convincing the rest of the wine world.

In June, I had the opportunity to visit OENO P, his newest project. After decades of helping establish Santorini as one of the world’s premier wine regions through Domaine Sigalas, Paris has returned to what matters most: old vines, individual vineyard sites, and wines that express the island with remarkable honesty and precision.

What makes OENO P so fascinating is its unwavering focus on terroir. Rather than creating one “Santorini style,” each wine begins with a single vineyard, allowing the unique character of each site to shine.

On an island as small as Santorini, it’s easy to assume every vineyard would produce the similar wine. But Paris proves otherwise. Vineyards closer to the caldera often deliver striking minerality and tension, while inland sites can offer a rounder texture and more restrained aromatics. Each parcel is vinified separately using natural fermentation and large-format amphorae, allowing every vineyard to tell its own story.

Walking among these ancient basket-trained vines and hearing Paris speak so passionately about this next chapter was a reminder that the greatest wine pioneers never stop learning. Even after helping redefine a country’s reputation on the world stage, he’s still asking questions, exploring new ideas, and pushing Assyrtiko to new heights.

That’s what makes wine endlessly fascinating to me. It’s not just about what’s in the glass - it’s about the people, the places, and the stories that inspire us to keep discovering.

Sometimes the best trips are the ones where you simply get to be present. 🙏

Last week in Maine was all about celebrating a beautiful family wedding, hiking through Acadia National Park, and spending time together with very little on the agenda…other than making memories and conducting a highly scientific comparison of lobster rolls. 🦞😜

Wine wasn’t the focus this time, but travel always reminds me why I love it. Every destination has its own personality - its landscape, its people, its food, and its stories. That’s what drew me to wine years ago, and it’s still what inspires me today.

Grateful for the time away, the people I shared it with, and a place I’ll always be happy to return to.

Maine, you were pretty special. ❤️
