There’s something really special about being at someone’s wedding when you actually take it all in.

You’re not just seeing the ceremony or the party.

You’re hearing stories about them you’ve never heard before. You’re meeting people from different parts of their life. You start to understand how they show up in other people’s lives, what kind of friend they are, what kind of person they’ve been through different chapters.

You meet their friends, you connect with people you probably never would have met otherwise, and somehow by the end of the night, their world feels a little more familiar to you.

And then there’s the fact that you’re there for a moment they’ll remember for the rest of their life.

When you really think about it, attending a wedding is such a unique experience.

You get to see a person from so many different angles in one day.

And I think the more present you are for it, the more you realize how meaningful it actually is.

I was having coffee at Ditta Artigianale in Florence and started noticing the most beautiful old parts of the building. I researched it and learned it used to be part of a Benedictine monastery for women.

The refectory beside this courtyard dates to the 1300s. This carved stone is the monastery’s old handwashing fountain. Water came out of the faces into the basin below before the nuns went in to eat.

The monastery itself goes back more than 1,000 years.

This is why I love Florence. You can be doing something as normal as getting a coffee and suddenly find yourself sitting inside a place with this much history.

If you’re a smart woman who loves luxury, beauty, business and getting real value for your money, you’re my kind of person.
I love nice things, but I always want to understand the business behind them. How did 3.4 grams of Charlotte Tilbury powder become $39? Who decided that price? And how did Sephora make that price feel completely normal?
So I looked into the points, the reviews, the mini sizes and the psychology behind the way Sephora sells beauty.
I’ll still shop there because I love some of the products and brands but the more you know!
