This series does not aim to replicate nature but instead proposes new configurations—patterns that feel organic yet do not exist in nature, suggesting potential by @marionfriedmann

For Homo Faber 2026, Thierry Jeannot presents Anastylosis as part of An Island of Light at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice.⁠
⁠
A free-standing sculptural lamp born from the fusion of recycled PET plastic and metal, Anastylosis transforms discarded material into an object of beauty and meaning.⁠
⁠
Repeated and grouped, the recycled PET elements form a modular structure that recalls classical architectural construction — while evoking the ruins of a forgotten civilisation.⁠
⁠
The title refers to anastylosis, the archaeological technique of carefully reassembling the surviving elements of a ruined building or monument.⁠
⁠

HOMO FABER — AN ISLAND OF LIGHT

This year’s Homo Faber brings together hundreds of makers and exceptional works from around the world in the extraordinary setting of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice.

An Island of Light, creative director Es Devlin @esdevlin creates a journey through light, materials and craftsmanship to bring the work of individual makers into dialogue with one another. Homo Faber takes again place within the historic spaces of San Giorgio Maggiore.

I am particularly pleased to see Thierry Jeannot’s Anastylosis light included, a piece he was invited to create for Homo Faber for this biennial edition.
