#FjallravenAmbassador I usually share the bigger adventures, mountains, expeditions, places far from home. #ad But most life happens in between them. Running errands. Getting some work done. Meeting someone for coffee. Finding a park and taking the long way home. I’ve always believed exploration is less about how far you go and more about staying curious wherever you are. That’s what I like about the @fjallraven_na Räven backpack. One pack moving through all the different versions of a day. #Fjallraven #BornInSwedenCarriedEverywhere by @mariorigby
First time standing at Machu Picchu, I realised some places don’t just live up to the hype they humble you. Hiked up at sunrise with @gadventures tracing ancient Inca steps that still hold stories you can’t capture in a photo. Feeling that thin air remind you this city was built by people who believed mountains weren’t obstacles, but sacred. The Incas called Machu Picchu the ‘Old Peak’ but it’s not a single spot. It’s part of a whole network of trails and sacred sites linked by stone paths that stretch for thousands of kilometres across the Andes. Respect the site: walk softly, speak low, leave no trace. The world’s wonders don’t need to be ‘checked off’ they’re here to check you. #ExploreWithMario #MachuPicchu #GAdventures #IncaTrail #SacredSites #SustainableTravel #ExploreEmpowerEvolve by @mariorigby

None of the things i did was guaranteed. Most of it didn’t go to plan. But I’d rather collect the lessons than wonder what if. by @mariorigby
Calm is a weapon. The storm doesn’t scare the man who learned to walk through it. by @mariorigby
We visit places like Petra to see what people built. I think the more interesting question is what they believed was possible. 🇯🇴 by @mariorigby
Thank you to Experience Life Magazine (@experiencelifemag) for featuring me on the cover of their April 2020 issue. It's my first American cover and I could not be any prouder, thank you for recognizing my drive and effort to push the boundaries of what it is to be a modern day explorer. . . I strive to explore the world in ways that help shed light to who we are as a human species and what our role here on this beautiful garden we call earth, let us play lightly on this garden so that we and generations beyond us can enjoy the fruits we savor today. #ad I’m still trying to figure out where summer went. Between travel and work, this year has moved quickly. I’m trying to take a little more of it in before heading into what’s next. With winter on the way, I’m looking forward to new adventures, good company and more time outside. For now, I’m enjoying these autumn afternoons in the city while they’re here. Episode 3 Summit night felt different. Every step up Mount Kilimanjaro carried years behind it, the miles walked across Africa, the oceans crossed, the setbacks, the rebuilding, the quiet work no one sees. By the time I reached Uhuru Peak, it didn’t feel like a finish line. It felt like confirmation. This climb was part of something bigger, preparation, learning, testing myself for what comes next. Beyond Human isn’t an idea anymore. It’s already in motion. One summit down. The work continues. by @mariorigby
New cover from @nuvomag featuring myself 🙏🏿 Click on my profile link to read the full article. #nuvomagazine When the expedition is over and the adventure at its end, Mario Rigby, modern-day eco-explorer, returns from the desert or the shore to a triplex in Toronto’s Little Italy. There, in his apartment, he occupies both his mind and his time dreaming of ways to decolonize the essence of his craft. For Rigby, who is increasingly recognized as a socially conscious adventurer, the concept of “conquest” must be severed from the expedition if the explorer is to have any meaning or purpose. “It’s not about being the world’s first to do something anymore,” the 34-year-old adventurer says. “We are transitioning away from the concept of ‘I need to be the best’ or ‘I need to be the fastest.’ We’re becoming more collective and collaborative. We have to be. Especially right now.” In the niche world of professional explorers where ego can often rule, Rigby is a small yet refreshing character with growing influence. His drive to normalize BIPOC in outdoor spaces and to overcome environmental and social injustices through exploration have led him to cross Africa on foot, cycle across Canada, and kayak the length of Lake Ontario. by @mariorigby
Looking through these photos, I’m mostly thinking about the friends I made, the lessons learned and experiences had. We worked hard, made mistakes and laughed our way through a language barrier. I left Veracruz with friendships worth keeping and a few honest reminders of where I need to improve. Grateful for the experience. Proud to have represented the Caribbean. 🇹🇨 #DefenderTrophy #Veracruz #CaribbeanExplorer #BeyondHuman by @mariorigby
