Winter has arrived with absolutely no mercy, and honestly… I was not built for this.
Going through my Seychelles photos has me seriously considering absconding to golden sunsets, warm ocean air, soft beaches and that feeling of being nowhere near a cold front.

Golden hour over Makhanda.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, I had the privilege of flying above one of South Africa’s most historic towns, capturing the iconic church steeple rising above the city centre. Founded in 1812 and rich in heritage, Makhanda’s skyline tells stories spanning more than two centuries.

There’s something special about viewing these historic streets and buildings from above, structures that have witnessed generations come and go, standing long before I arrived and, hopefully, for many years to come.

The light was perfect, the air was calm, and for a brief moment history, architecture, and technology came together in one unforgettable flight. I only wish I had more time.

Some places don’t just decay… they slowly disappear from memory.

The old Makhanda railway station, declared a heritage site and a symbol of connection and movement, now stands behind security fencing, weathered, neglected and falling apart. From the ground you can already see the abandonment, but from above with the DJI Air 3S, the missing roof sections and years of decay tell an even sadder story.

There’s something hauntingly beautiful about these forgotten places. A reminder that history, if left uncared for, eventually fades into silence.
