Ballet has taught me so many lessons and given me so many phenomenal opportunities. I love this art form with all my heart. When I was 12 my dream was to be a professional dancer, I feel I've done that little girl justice. I've traveled and danced in almost every state, and have gotten to move abroad just to dance. If you told me back then any of the experiences I've had I wouldn't believe you.
Thank you to everyone in my life who has supported me, my friends, my family, and the amazing instructors I've had along the way. Thank you @iba.ibt @masterballetacademy @balletdesmoines @tbtschool and all my summer intensives for helping me reach this point in my life, I owe it all to you.
It is now time for me to leave. The past 4 years during university I've discovered another passion and after graduation I decided it's what I want to do full time. Growing up I never wanted to go to college and just dance but my parents pushed for me to go. I want to thank them for doing that or I would never be where I am today. To any young ballerinas reading this, your education is important. Even going to online college part-time while you're still dancing is important! You never know where life will take you and having a backup plan is a good idea.
This doesn't mean I won't be dancing anymore, I'm still going to take classes sometimes but it's not my career anymore. Ballet will always be a part of me and I'm eternally grateful I ever got the opportunity to do it, I will always call myself a dancer💕🩰 by @marissa.doke

The past 4 years have been the most insane journey, I got to dance in Arizona, Iowa, Spain, Texas, and on a national tour. While dancing full time I was simultaneously attending Arizona State University Online getting my degree in Technical Communications (Social Media Management). Even though I was a part time student I was still able to graduate on time by continuing my education over summer sessions, which meant during summer intensives (hardest part tbh). I'm so proud of myself for what I've accomplished so far and for graduating Magna Cum Laude. My educational journey doesn't stop here, starting this fall I will be a Graduate student with Arizona State University Online getting my masters in Technical Communication.

I want to thank my family and my friends for supporting me the whole time and for putting up with me when I've been stressed. I wouldn't be here today without my parents who when I was 18 years old had to fight me to go to school, but I am so grateful now. To all the young dancers out there reading this: go to university. Even if it's online that doesn't make it any less of a degree. Ballet is amazing but having a backup plan is the smart thing to do, you might even find something else you're passionate about.
