grief is fickle, and i used to be ashamed of it. i feel like no one depicts how difficult it is to lose someone so important to you. as i’ve gotten older, i’ve taken ownership of my grief and i no longer run from it. i sit in the uncomfortable sadness and i try to continue moving forward without forgetting what it feels like to love someone so deeply that their loss completely changes your point of view.
it’s been 8 years since my sweet mommy left us. there is not a day i dont think about her or her hugs or her contagious smile. i’m so proud that i carry so much of her in me, and that somehow, that makes her still here with us. she was my best friend, and my heart breaks when i remember i won’t speak to her again in this lifetime. somewhere, we are together laughing and hugging and catching up like nothing happened. there’s never enough words. i love you more, yaya. you are so missed🩷 by @marissangilder
