Citadel party! We are happy to announce that by the end of the day, ALL the 10,000+ pieces were put in place and it is ready to be installed into the Visitor's Centre at the 'real' Halifax Citadel! Expect to find it there by June 1st! This was a superb MariLUG project from start to finish! Jason Pyett painstakingly crafted the amazing original design. Trevor Benoit took lead on assembly duties. Shawn McLeod managed the project and promotions. Additional assembly work was completed by Lori Harraway, Carol Robinson, Samuel Chute, Patrick Bourgoin, Alex Faye, Victoria Martin, and others. Additional design work was completed by Trevor Benoit and Samuel Chute. The Lego Citadel was sponsored by Molen Services Inc., a renewable energy company based out of Dartmouth NS. Molen has been a perfect partner for MariLUG to work along with. Additional financial support has been provided by Trevor Benoit, Shawn McLeod, Owen Grace, and the Maritime Lego User Group. Gracious thanks to the fine folks at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, Parks Canada, and the Halifax Citadel Society who have been just as excited as we are to see this come together. We are grateful to have such a fine location to play host to the Lego Citadel over the 2023 tourist season! We must also champion the staff of the Halifax Library who were unbelievably helpful and happy. We could not have asked for a better place to do this event, and we will happily keep returning to facilitate Lego Library events in the future! by @maritimelug
We've gained a lot of new fans recently! If you love Lego and are from the Maritime Provinces, you are in the perfect spot! The members of MariLUG love to show off our Lego collections as much as we can. We have members in New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. We are spread wide, but we try to participate in at least one or two public events, every month! Most recently we had been in at a Saint John train show in May, then we hosted a Showcase in Kentville in June, another Showcase event at Shearwater within the HRM in July. We also completed construction on the Halifax Citadel replica at the Showcase event at the Halifax Public Library. Then we hauled it to Canada's largest Lego Convention in Toronto in July, and are soon to flaunt it in the 'real' Citadel, in downtown Halifax! Next up is the MariLUG Showcase BRICKSPLOSION on August 26th. This is the Maritime's largest Lego Fan Event and we will be showing off more than ever! After that are Halloween and Christmas events, train shows and more! If you think this all sounds awesome and you want to participate with us, or you think our group should attend one of your events, please let us know! Message us here on Facebook, or email us at: maritimelug@gmail.com If you're serious in participating, we'd love to have you.
