When I was eleven years old, my dad took me to a vintage store. I purchased one thing: a military camouflage jacket with inside and outside pockets and a slightly asymmetrical closure. It might not have been anything special, but it was one of the few pieces that fit me as a small middle schooler. I bought it, wore it and to this day have not been able to get rid of it. I am not a hoarder, and parting with clothing is sometimes easier than buying them. But when a piece of clothing comes with such emotional baggage, it resists the system. The jacket became part of me, even from the back of my closet. And maybe keeping it, marks an important starting point in relation to who I now am. by @marittalens
