Essential. Brilliant. If you are an actor, a designer, a playwright, a director, an audience member, a trustee, if you’ve worked props or wardrobe, hung lights, designed sound in a resident non-profit American Theater, you will find yourself here. And you will meet one of the true pioneers of the American Theater. After Le Gallienne, there was Margo Jones, Nina Vance, and ZELDA. The pages turn quickly, the voices astonish, and Zelda in all her brilliance and contradictions becomes— if you weren’t lucky enough to know her— a living, breathing, surprising, and always stunning woman. The stories. The gossip! A life a long lives brought into focus magisterially by director Mary B. Robinson. I can’t recommend it too highly. by @mark.lamos

I fell in love with this guy 45 years ago in Tucson, Arizona, and so yesterday when he turned 74 we had a fantastic Mexican lunch at a little family-owned authentic Mexican place called Momma’s Tacos (not to be confused with the chain called Mama’s Tacos, OK?) in New Milford, CT, to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Jerry Jones! ❤️❤️❤️ taken in New Milford, CT by @mark.lamos

Books enjoyed since the first day of Spring…
Deep dive into genius Patricia Highsmith. Inspired by the Harlem Renaissance show at the Met, finally got hold of Warmth of Other Suns, magnificent. Chester Himes thriller Run, Man, Run (in Library of America’s Classic Crime quartet) lead me to Conjure Man Dies. Percival (American Fiction) Everett’s James is a brilliantly suspenseful and profound novel: Huckleberry Finn’s adventures from the escaped enslaved man Jim’s point of view. And I’ve been reading everything Mick Herron writes since I discovered his Slow Horses in a London bookstore years ago. I left a couple books off because they didn’t do it for me… BUT I RECOMMEND THESE! Enjoy! 📚💕 by @mark.lamos

Just a few of the stunning works in the Met’s blockbuster ‘The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism.’ Portrait of Langston Hughes by Winold Reiss, ‘Triple Self Portrait’ by William H. Johnson, and ‘Nightlife’ by Archibald J. Motley, Jr. The whole exhibition is thrilling to see and experience. Curated and organized to bring you and the art and the philosophy and the people together. by @mark.lamos
