One of my favorite moments from the Asheville shows was when Mark Lavengood (a.k.a. Huggy Bear) joined the boys on stage and encouraged everyone to let their freak flag fly 🏴‍☠️

After a beautiful cover of the Seldom Scene’s “Wait a Minute,” they busted out Mark’s song “Sliding Rock” for the first time since the Van Andel Scramble in 2023 🤼‍♂️

Excited to see Mark as host of Billy’s @ioniafreakfair this summer. If you get a chance to catch one of his shows before August, don’t miss it 🤘

Plus the Pyramid Scheme Pinball & Metal Tent both days — @heartsickband, @ftfdband and @banecentral on Friday; @cunexttuesdaygrind, @fleshandbloodrobotmetal and @cryptopsyofficial on Saturday.

Music runs till 11 both nights, which brings up the question I keep getting: where do I sleep? No tent or car camping at the fairgrounds, and Ionia's booked solid. So @smilingacresfestival and I built Midnight Moonlight — camping, round-trip charter to the show both days, food, and late-night fireside jams with me once we're back (slide 6, that's the real thing). Camping-only if you've already got a ride.

Blissfest 🌌💫⭐️♥️ — you have my heart, time and time over again.

It was an absolute honor to bring my band back north for this year’s Blissfest. I remember roaming through those woods back in 2010, right after I put out my first album, and stumbling into Lindsay Lou, Josh, Rilko, and Spencer Cain — joining the Flatbellys and setting my path as a music man in this modern age.

This year was incredible. A couple of sets with my band on the second stage, then the cherry on top: sitting in with Bleau Otis on the main stage Saturday, playing with my bluegrass homies the Pontiac Trailblazers, being there for the closing ceremony, and sitting in with Seth Bernard and friends to close the whole festival down 🎶💫♥️🕺🪩💃

Our dear friend Nick James couldn’t make it this year, so I got to fill one of his sets at the Song Tree on Saturday afternoon — a whole set of John Prine songs. An honor to hold that space for him.

Huge shout out to the organizers, the volunteers, festivarians and everyone who brings this thing back in full force year after year. One of the best festival experiences of our lives.
