How to make your rear brakes last
- Clean with pressure air every service (10k km)
- Don't wash hot brakes with cold water — warps them
- Use genuine pads — Ex Japan / Bosch / Ferodo
- Adjust handbrake properly, don't over-tighten by @mark_jason404

*How to make Prado suspension last:*
1. *Drive to the road* - Slow on rough, don’t "fight" the potholes
2. *Service every 10,000km* - Ask mech to check bushes, shocks, ball joints
3. *Align + balance every 10,000km* or after bad pothole
4. *Load properly* - Heavy stuff low and forward, not all at the back
5. *Use original or quality parts* - KYB, Bilstein, OEM Toyota. Cheap shocks = 6 months life

*Signs your Prado suspension is spoiling:*
Noise over bumps, car sways too much, uneven tyre wear, car "floats" after bumps, one corner sits lower. taken in Westlands, Nairobi by @mark_jason404

*1. Tv Off-road / Driving mistakes*
*Don’t*:
- *Engage 4H/4L on tarmac* - You’ll wreck the transfer case and center diff. Only use 4WD on loose surfaces.
- *Drive in deep water above the hubs without a snorkel* - Air intake is in the wheel well. Hydrolock = new engine.
- *Rely only on traction control in sand/mud* - Turn TRAC off, use momentum. Otherwise it’ll cut power and you’ll get stuck.
- *Air down tires without a compressor* - Running 15 PSI off-road then driving 100kph back to Nairobi = blowout. by @mark_jason404

For a *diesel engine*, regular checks keep it from getting expensive fast. Diesels are tough but hate dirty fuel, low oil, and overheating.

Here’s your *regular check list*:

*Daily / Before Every Drive*
- *Engine Oil Level* - Diesels burn/soot up oil faster. Check dipstick when cold. Top up if low
- *Coolant Level* - In the overflow tank. Diesels run hot. Never open radiator cap when hot
- *Fuel Level + Water Separator* - Diesel picks up water/contaminants. Drain the fuel/water separator if your truck has one
- *Leaks* - Look under for oil, diesel, or coolant spots

*Weekly*
- *Battery + Terminals* - Diesels need strong cranking amps. Clean corrosion
- *Belts & Hoses* - Check for cracks on fan, alternator, AC belts. Squeeze coolant hoses
- *Air Filter* - Diesels suck huge amounts of air. Tap it out or replace if dirty. Clogged = power loss + black smoke
- *Tire Pressure* - Especially if it’s a 4x4 or pickup

*Every 5,000 - 10,000 km / 3-6 Months*
- *Engine Oil + Oil Filter Change* - Use diesel-rated oil like CI-4, CJ-4, CK-4. Don’t stretch this
- *Fuel Filter Change* - Critical. Bad diesel kills injectors + fuel pump. 10k-20k km depending on fuel quality in KE
- *Check for Blow-by* - Oil cap test: if it’s puffing hard, compression might be going
- *Exhaust Smoke Color*
 - Black = too much fuel/air filter clogged
 - Blue = burning oil
 - White = coolant or bad injectors by @mark_jason404
