Dawn patrol on Mount Glory

Last week I was working as a PA on a bigger commercial production while the biggest storm of the season was hitting Jackson. I’m incredibly susceptible to FOMO in the winter and I was struggling being off snow all week.

The last day of the production had a later call time, so Bodhi and I rallied for a dawn patrol lap with low expectations. I figured the pass would already be tracked out, but tracked turns are better than no turns.

As the sun crept over the horizon, Bodhi and I started hiking faster. Looking around, I was wrong- there was plenty of untracked snow. We greeted the sun at the summit, transitioned, and charged back down the mountain, bouncing over rollers and hooting and hollering down the 1,600 foot face. I got home at 9, showered, and arrived to work at 9:30 with a full cup. taken in Teton Pass by @mark_riegel

2025 was incredibly fruitful for my career and I have nothing but gratitude for all the learning and growth as I learn how to make a living in the creative industry. I took fewer personal photos this year due to my increased commercial workload. I feared the burnout often associated with my profession. But every time I returned to my more personal fly-on-the-wall style of shooting, where I’m only shooting for myself, the joy embraces me like an old friend. These are my favorites from a really awesome year.

I’m super grateful that Kat and Zina matched my energy with this one- I hadn’t met either of them before this but I instantly felt at home in their “threadquarters.” This was my first time lighting a scene on my own, and it scratched a creative itch long overdue. by @mark_riegel

Picking up where we left off
.
I got to see of my college roommates back in March and was struck at the ways things have and haven’t changed.

I’ve known these guys for a long time. We used to live together.

Now we only see each other a few times a year. These reunion trips are rare, often spontaneous. If there’s a silver lining to how rarely we see each other, it’s that we’re forced to be intentional in catching up. Zach, Joe, and Wyatt greeted me with bear hugs as I rolled in at 10:45PM, after a 6 hour drive. We crowd around the kitchen and fill each other in as I warm up a leftover burrito and rub my eyes. We’re back.

4 guys, a shitty prime lens, and a dream
.
5 years ago, I bought an old, finicky prime lens off Facebook. 45mm, the autofocus was faulty, and I never really mastered it before graduating to nicer lenses. It’s collected dust over the last few years but I always loved the look on the wider end. And it only weighs 5.5 ounces.

In effort to keep my pack weight low, the 45mm is back in my regular rotation. A few years wiser, I think I’m getting the hang of it. taken in Grand Teton National Park by @mark_riegel

After two gnarly mountain missions in 3 days, we crossed the border into Utah and linked up with Pippa and T to raft the Green River in Flaming Gorge.

Wyoming Staycation Part 3
.
We hobbled onto the Cirque of the Towers loop about 30 hours after we got back from our suffer fest on Mount Moran. It was a bit aggressive but it was my 26th birthday and I wanted to do something cool. Our first 12 miles were a breeze. It was refreshing, finally getting out of the Tetons and seeing another beautiful mountain range.

The second half of the day sucked- another 12 miles where the granite domes gave way for flat, dusty meadows and my legs grew too heavy to run.

I don’t know if I’d recommend a 24 mile trail run on tired legs but I found it quite empowering to ring in another year of life with a challenging day in the mountains. taken in Wyoming by @mark_riegel

Wyoming Staycation Part 2

1000 feet of slab climbing sounded fun to me, but I’d failed to consider how infrequently I climb these days. Constant exposure, slow movement, and persistent heat beat my spirit into pulp. Don’t let these images fool you- I was not having fun for the majority of this day.

Wyoming Staycation Part 1

Brendan and I had plans to be in the southern hemisphere last week but Mother Nature had other plans. We drew up a new plan- stay local, and check some items off our bucket list. Activities we’ve talked about for years but never found time to accomplish. This is Day 1, approaching the CMC route on Moran. taken in Grand Teton National Park by @mark_riegel
