“Indigenous Flow”

By Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez

Location Sunset Park Brooklyn NY 36st and 5th Ave.

Mural photos:  @tostfilms

'Indigenous Flow' is a magnificent mural paying tribute to the ancestral homelands of Lenapehoking (Brooklyn, NY), Ramapo Munsee Lunaape Nation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, and global Indigenous communities. Resolute Indigenous figures take center stage amidst sacred symbols, patterns, and flowing water, symbolizing our interconnectedness and the importance of Indigenous representation.

Also inspired by diverse cultures, including African, Afro-Latin, Mexican, Central and South American, the mural celebrates Sunset Park's vibrant community and harmoniously integrates local flora and fauna from Greenwood Cemetery.

Commissioned by the Brooklyn Nets and Team Mills Foundation,

In partnership with

Patty Mills, The Redhawk Native American Arts Council, PS 958, and Street Theory,

And with special thanks to the NYC Department of Education.

"BROWNSVILLE KING 🤴🏾❤️ OF LOVE" 326 Rockaway Ave Brownsville Brooklyn, NY

Photo Credit: 📸 Gary Judkins @garypivot

Mural in Partnership with @artbridge

Artist: @marka_27
Assistants: @donrimx @jeffhenriquezart

"Brownsville King of Love" Marka27's latest mural dedicated to the Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY community in partnership with Artbridge.

The mural is a larger-than-life image of a local Brooklyn youth wearing a golden crown and holding up a custom jean jacket with the message "Spread Love" and several patches and pins representing Brownsville's diverse culture and notable hip-hop legacy. @duckdownmusic @seandabarbarian @famem.o.p

A pair of boxing gloves hanging from the youth's neck with Brownsville written on them symbolizes the strength and resilience of Brownsville and its legacy of champion boxers like Mike Tyson, Shannon Briggs, and Riddick Bowe, to name a few.

"Brownsville King of Love" is a call to spread love and honor our ancestors by celebrating our cultures, and lifting each other as a community.
Together we shine!

We are pleased to announce Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez: Ni de aquí, Ni de allá on view at the IAS from October 2, 2026 - March 7, 2026.

Ni de aquí, Ni de allá (translating to “Not From Here, Not From There”) is a bold declaration of dual belonging. Featuring a wide range of artworks, Quiñonez highlights the experience many bicultural communities face of living between worlds even as violent notions of nationalism and identity pervade.

Ni de aquí, Ni de allá, organized in partnership with the Center for the Art and Advocacy (located in New York), is a part of Visualizing Abolition, an arts-based initiative that reaches across prison borders to create a future free of prisons.

🖼️ Upcoming Fall Exhibitions 2026

On October 2nd join us for a performance by Samita Sinha from 5-6pm (details to be announced), followed by the opening celebration for both exhibitions 6-8pm.

“Ni de aquí, Ni de allá” (“neither from here, nor there”), is a phrase commonly used by bilingual, bicultural communities. In the exhibition the phrase becomes a bold declaration of dual belonging against a violent notion of nationalism and identity. Through paintings, immersive installations, sculptural works, and a curated soundscape, Marka27 invites gallery goers into a vibrant, layered world where street culture meets Indigenous tradition, and personal memory collides with collective truth and activism.

Curated by Kate Fowle, this exhibition is organized in partnership with The Center for Art & Advocacy and Visualizing Abolition.

Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez, @marka_27, is a renowned visual artist working at the intersections of contemporary art, graffiti, vinyl toys, fashion and design, and art activism. His work is inspired by the empowerment of marginalized communities and the fight for representation.

When Time Stands Still, Carlos Motta’s second solo exhibition with the Institute of the Arts and Sciences at University of California, Santa Cruz—features new and recent artworks which explore the unsettling experience of living in a time that seems violently stuck on repeat. The selection of video works, sculptures, installations, and drawings form a critical aesthetic historiography into how the past, mired in imperialism, colonization, and displacement, shapes the present. More than an indictment of history, the works on view also ask how time can be at once a source of oppression and a potential horizon of liberation. The exhibition offers a moving proposal about how to reclaim time, with acts of care providing a different possible cadence—one of solidarity.

Carlos Motta, @carlosalejandromotta, is a Colombian-born, New York-based, multidisciplinary artist whose practice documents the social conditions and political struggles of sexual, gender, and ethnic communities, challenging normative discourses through acts of self-representation. taken in Institute of the Arts and Sciences, University of California Santa Cruz by @marka_27

My latest mural, "Dignidad Eterna," recently completed in Cleveland, Ohio. Eastman Branch Library corner of Lorain and W.116

This project, planned over a year ago, was created in collaboration with L.A.N.D., a Cleveland-based nonprofit organization that believes in the power of art and public space to transform and unite communities.

The title translates to "Eternal Dignity," and the work celebrates street vendors, undocumented workers, and the resilience and joy our communities bring to this planet.

My goal with this piece is to normalize the celebration of Black, Brown, and Indigenous culture in this country, especially during a time when these communities face dehumanization and criminalization.

While there were attempts to silence my voice in Texas, those experiences only validate the strength and impact we carry collectively as artists and truth-tellers.

As we mark 250 years of America, it is vital to celebrate the Indigenous communities that existed here long before stolen lands and broken treaties—the people who built this country and continue to love this land we call home.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to L.A.N.D. and C.P.L. for their unwavering support and for the opportunity to bring "Dignidad Eterna" to life in Cleveland.
@landstudio @cpl_fdn

I also want to give a special thanks to the team at Street Theory
 @streettheorystudio
@flowrbomb___

and to my brother and talented artist assistant @dejong.art
for their hard work and dedication to this vision.
