Raptors vs. Cavaliers. Round 1, games 3 and 4.

I initially just got tickets for my brother and I for game 4. This would have been our first playoff experience, in an arena or stadium, ever. Little did I know, I would win a giveaway via @bell for tickets (4 of them) to game 3, as well. I’m glad I was able to bring my one of my cousins, who is also a lifelong @Raptors fan and Zoe (don’t have her on insta 😅) tagged along for the 4th ticket. So, game 3 ended up being all of our first playoff experience in person.

The atmosphere for both games was loud, intense and electric! Oh and they won both of the games to tie the series at 2 a piece. The boys, played their hearts out for the fans and they got rewarded for it. What a week it ended up being, I almost lost my voice. Core memory, indeed. Oh no yeah fer sher, bud! Playoff games, especially in Toronto, is a must do experience to do in person. What a sports city! What a fanbase! Do we live in misery most of the time? Yes. That being said, I wouldn’t have it any other way. WE THE FREAKING, NORTH!!! LETS GO RAPTORS!!!

What started off as a karaoke night, turned into MSC Factor. 😭😭 We (the contestants) had no idea we were going to sing in front of this many people. On top of that, there were judges. I just said to heck with it, I probably won’t see these people again. 😅
Anyway, here’s me singing ‘Little Things’ by One Direction (written by Ed Sheeran). Oh! I was also super nervous. However, I am blessed I had family and friends to cheer me on! AHHHHH!!!! Also, Chalont and Twinkle (I believe that was her name) had to ‘say something’ (their song of choice) to the opps (us). All jokes aside, we all managed to get through our nerves and the best people won. 👏👏👏

Us? Nothing. Just hanging around.
Celebrated as Lebron in 2010 would say, “not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, but six birthdays.” Bunch of us have birthdays within a month span. One cousin is mia.

If I can sum up these past 6 or 7 (funny how those numbers continue to haunt me as a leafs fan) weeks in one word, it would be Gratitude. So much to be thankful for and I don’t want to put it all in the caption. That being said, I want to quickly thank those who treated me out when I least expected it, like come on now! Even the lady who I got pizza from today, I asked for two slices and she only made me pay for one. May the Lord bless y’all abundantly! So blessed, thank you Lord!

It’s been wonderful seeing people’s highlights of 2023, but often times we don’t see the lowlights. It doesn’t even have to be the past year, someone could have been struggling for years and yet, all we mostly see the good things. I’m not saying that no one is happy (I pray and hope that you are), that being said, life is hard for most people.

If you are struggling, I pray that in 2024, you will lay your burdens to God. If you are not a believer, I hope that one day you will give your life to Christ. You are not alone in this battle and with God by your side, no battle is insurmountable. If you have been waiting for a victory for a long time, it will come in God’s perfect timing. Keep seeking him first (Matt 6:33) and if it’s his will for your life, it will come.

Wow, that’s long! 😅 All that being said, God has put this song in my heart for the past couple of weeks. It’s a beautifully written song by Phil Wickham, called “Battle Belongs.” I would have put this short cover out during Christmas time, but I got sick and my cough just went away (for the most part). Anyway, I hope this song touches your heart and brings you closer to God.

*Disclaimer* long post, so, bare with me if you’re going to read it all.

Wow, I did it! I actually graduated in a post-secondary institution. Crazy!!! If you told me I would graduate from college a couple of years ago, I would have replied with “the leafs have a better chance at winning the cup in the next two, than me graduating from college.” Now we all know, that statement false. The leafs, indeed still have not won a cup and I actually graduated from college. 🤯

Before I even get into thanking anyone else, I would love to give all the glory and all the honour to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! 🙌 (does the ugliest woah known to man). Without him, I probably wouldn’t be the man I am today. Next, I would like to thank my school and Ontario government for providing me with bursaries and grants, to pay for tuition. Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers, advice (Godly and school related), and cheering me on. I needed every ounce of it. So again, thank you all so much!!!

Oh, I would also like to thank everyone who reached out to congratulate me. Additionally, to those who decided to give me a gift. Some gifts did not make the second slide because, I’ve already used them. 😅 You didn’t need to, but I’m still grateful anyway.

Now, for whatever the future holds for me, I lay it all down to God. I may have my own plans set out, but his plans are better than mine. So, if he calls me to continue to seek work in my field of study or elsewhere to follow him, I will go, no hesitation. You may call me crazy, but Jesus is the reason why I live and the reason why I have purpose on this earth. Until the day I die or until Jesus returns, I will seek him with all my heart, mind and soul. And I will share his love and Gospel, to everyone who crosses paths with me.

Alberta trip!! First picture was before the Forrest fire in Jasper. It wasn’t us! Source - trust me bro. Jokes aside, hope everyone and wildlife in that area are safe now. Also missing west Edmonton mall pic’s. Thought I saved them, oh well! Hopefully, all of the Roxas’ get to go next time.

Anyways, this province is beautiful!!! The mountains are breathtaking (was legit in awe the whole time), surprisingly encountered a lot of Australian people, and you can’t beat that 5% tax. Wish we stayed longer to visit people that we know in Calgary. There’s always next time (year). 😉

Cedar Point trip, in Sandusky, O-H, I-O!!! Didn’t get much photos of the rollercoasters and flat rides. Take me word for it, they were amazing!

Wish there was a place like this in Canada. Yes, we got Wonderland, which is good and all. However, this place just has it all! It has an amusement park, water park, resorts, pools, restaurants, campsite, cabins, marina, beach, surrounded by a lake, massive mosquitoes, and last but not least, many rollercoasters to choose from. They truly live up to “a place like no other,” slogan.

Testimony alert! I applied for a bursary to help me out with tuition for winter 2022 term. It wasn’t guaranteed that every student would get it. I applied for it with no expectations. There’s no harm in trying right?

I prayed about it, but didn’t get an e-mail notification to let me know if I got it or not. So, I just thought I didn’t get it. Fast forward to today, I went to go pay for my tuition, and to my surprise… I WAS GIVEN THE BURSARY!!! This really helps me out so much! I couldn’t work because of how hectic my school schedule was, and next semester is going to be far worse. So I literally just had savings but no income.

My tuition for this upcoming semester is around $1750, so all I needed to pay was roughly $500. I did have enough saved to pay the whole tuition, but my goodness this is such a great help to me. Now I can save that money for next fall. Also got some financial help from my family and extended family. To them I say “So may the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord shine his face upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). That will go towards textbooks now, whoop! GOD IS SO GOOD!! I’m so thankful and grateful!

Throughout school, despite it being time consuming and busy, I still made time for God. I seeked him, read the word, and prayed everyday. Shared some of the Gospel and the word of God in my stories. Whether it changed someone’s life or not, I was not ashamed of who I am in Christ. I’m still not ashamed, till this day, TILL THIS DAY!! Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” If you read the passage from verses 25-34 (titled: Do Not Worry), you will understand the context of that specific verse. This is just amazing!

God Is By Your Side!
Isaiah 43:1-2. “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

This is an encouragement for those who are hurting, depressed, or just having a bad time right now. Especially with what’s going on in the world right now; we can get discouraged or depressed, because it seems insurmountable to overcome it.

None of us are immune to this. Let’s face it, we all go through something challenging in our lives. Many of us try to do it ourselves to not damage our pride; but in reality we need to humble ourselves and go to God with these things. Only he can heal, and make us whole again. Even going to a trusted spiritual friend or spiritual leader, can help you get through it.

Staying silent, or trying to do it on your own can damage your mind and eventually the enemy uses that to take you down. Many Christians, whether you are a baby or a mature one; all face troubles. Many of us get broken hearted, some get their spirits crushed; but have faith, because through it all God is there with us, and he is always for us (Psalm 34:18-20).

If you’re a non-believer, this applies to you as well. I also want to specifically tell you that God loves you so much! His son Jesus, died on the cross for sins, so that we would have a chance to reconcile with God. (John 3:16) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” However you take that is up to you.
