Hi, I’m Jessica – the founder and creative director of Market House Ltd. 👋 The journey of Market House began over 17 years ago in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Back then, I was just starting out, dreaming of a space where businesses could connect with their audiences in beautiful, meaningful, human ways. Over time, that dream grew alongside my career as an award-winning photographer, capturing stories and moments that taught me the power of emotion in every frame. Through years of balancing two careers, I learned that marketing, like photography, should be rooted in connection and authenticity. My passion for making marketing as human and heartfelt as possible was born out of my belief that every business has a story worth sharing. But let’s talk about burnout – because that’s part of my story, too. After years of pouring everything into my work, I hit a wall that forced me to step back, reevaluate, and rediscover the joy in what I do. That journey brought me here, to Alberta, in 2012 and Market House Ltd. grew out of its teenage phase into adulthood. This is where I’ve channeled my experience into helping other business owners avoid the pitfalls of burnout while building something they love. My role Monday to Friday is spent creating marketing strategies, beautiful designs, and impactful campaigns that feel as real and personal as the people behind them. I believe in marketing that works and makes you feel good about the story you’re telling. If you’ve got a story that led you here, I’d love to hear it! Cheers to heart, creativity, and a little less hustle❤️ -Jess by @markethouseyeg
I have to admit, sometimes I meet with clients and they have massively overcomplicated some aspects of their marketing efforts. They cast such a wide net trying to hit every avenue of interest for people they are trying to reach. Here's something a lot of people forget to do: Go back to basics. If you want to understand your customers better and what they're needing, here's a simple place to start: go back and read your actual conversations with them. Not your promotional emails or your carefully planned newsletter campaigns, but the everyday conversations that happen before someone hires you, while you're working together, and after a project is complete. Look at the questions people ask before making a decision, the concerns they raise, and the language they use to describe what they need. Pay attention to the compliments you receive, too. What do people consistently appreciate about working with you? What surprised them? What made their experience different from what they expected? You might discover that the thing customers value most isn't the service you spend the most time promoting. Perhaps they appreciate how straightforward you make a complicated process, how quickly you respond, or how comfortable they feel asking questions. Those details can reveal opportunities to strengthen your messaging and differentiate your business in ways you hadn't considered. Businesses sometimes spend a considerable amount of time trying to invent clever marketing language when their customers are already telling them what matters. There's real value in listening before you start writing. So, if you have a spare 20 minutes this week, look through some recent customer conversations and write down the themes you notice. You might come away with ideas for your website, social content, service descriptions, or even improvements to the customer experience itself. Not all research requires a formal survey or a fancy report. Sometimes it starts with paying closer attention to the people who already choose to work with you. by @markethouseyeg
One of my favourite parts of running Market House Ltd. is getting to work with people who are genuinely invested in what they're building. After years of working with businesses at different stages of growth, I've realized that the projects I find most rewarding aren't necessarily determined by the size of the company or the scale of the budget. They're the ones where there's a willingness to ask good questions, consider a different perspective, and make thoughtful decisions about where the business is going. I love working with business owners who understand that branding is more than choosing colours and marketing is more than keeping a social media account active. They want to understand their customers, communicate their value, and build something that will continue serving them as their business evolves. They're interested in the reasoning behind the decisions, not just what the finished product will look like. That kind of work is what makes the strategy side of my job so rewarding. There's something incredibly satisfying about helping someone take all the ideas, experience, and ambition they have for their business and turn them into a direction they can actually move forward with. I've been doing this since 2008, and I still get excited about those conversations. Every business has its own challenges, opportunities, and personality, which means there's always something new to understand and a different problem to solve. Getting invited into someone's vision and trusted to help shape what comes next is something I don't take for granted. The finished branding, design or website is important, of course, but knowing there's a thoughtful plan behind it is what makes the work meaningful to me. by @markethouseyeg
Here's something I've learned after working with businesses for the past 18 years: not every problem in your business can be solved with better marketing. Sometimes the issue isn't visibility, but positioning. You're attracting plenty of attention, but from people who aren't the right fit for your services. Sometimes your marketing is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, but the experience people have when they reach out isn't giving them a reason to move forward. And sometimes, the offer itself needs a little work before you spend another dollar promoting it. It's tempting to assume that if business is slow, we need to post more, advertise more, or give the website a complete overhaul. But marketing works best when it's built on a solid understanding of the business, the customer, and what you're actually trying to accomplish. Before investing in another campaign or a shiny new website, take a step back and look at where things are breaking down. You might discover that the solution is much simpler than you thought, or that there's a bigger opportunity you've been overlooking. I love helping business owners work through these questions because sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is stop adding more to the plate and figure out what's actually going to make a difference. www.markethouse.ca by @markethouseyeg
I loved getting to photograph the team retreat day for @nurtured.minds.wellness a couple months ago! I will admit, I spent most of my editing time on subtracting the pesky hoards of mosquitos from photos so it didn’t look like we all walked away with about 50 new bites from that day! The summer season in Alberta started off a little wild, but with some pivoting and a lot of grit and grace from @the.rewilding.therapist this day turned out perfect! There are way too many great photos from that day, so here are just a couple of my personal favourites! by @markethouseyeg
There’s something pretty special about handing over a project like this after months of hard work. This 142-page Brand & Marketing Strategy Guidebook was created for one of my incredible clients located in Montreal, and it is one of those Market House projects that really shows what happens when we take the time to slow down and build the strategy before jumping straight into the pretty stuff. I spent months working with Amelie at Shop Luxe Living through discovery, intake and progress meetings, research, conversations and strategy development to create a master guide that gives her a strong foundation for the business moving forward. Inside the guidebook, we worked through everything from brand positioning, market analysis, brand personality, customer avatars and audience insights to customer journey and marketing funnel mapping, content pillars, messaging themes, brand-specific SEO keywords, visual direction, strategic growth opportunities and a brand stewardship and decision-making framework. It also includes an implementation toolkit to help turn the strategy into action. This is one of the biggest assets I offer at Market House Ltd. because it gives my clients something they can come back to time and time again when they’re making decisions about their business. Instead of constantly wondering, "Does this fit our brand? Should we be doing this? What should we focus on next? How do we market this? How do we ensure our partners maintain our brand?", they have a strategy to refer back to in just about every situation. I will be straight forward that it takes a significant investment of time and finances on the front end to build a guidebook like this, but that’s exactly the point. The goal is to save my clients time, stress, unnecessary spending and a whole lot of second-guessing down the road. This is the kind of work I absolutely love. Taking everything that’s in a founder’s head, digging into the business, the audience and the bigger vision, and turning it into something tangible they can actually use to build the brand they want. What an honour it is for me in my job to get that inside access to a dream that's being built! by @markethouseyeg
Just a couple favourites from a recent session with @sidestreet.vintage 😍 by @markethouseyeg
One of the things I'm thinking about a lot lately is what we're teaching the next generation about work. Everywhere they look, they're being told to work smarter, not harder. To automate it. Shortcut it. Scale it. Hack it. And while there is certainly wisdom in efficiency, I worry we've started treating hard work like it's something to avoid instead of something that shapes us. The truth is, some things are supposed to be hard. Building a business should be hard. Creating a brand from nothing should be hard. Learning graphic design, writing copy that actually connects with people, building a website, understanding marketing strategy, making mistakes, fixing them, staying up late trying to solve problems you've never faced before. Those things are hard. And that's exactly why they matter. The grind isn't just about growing a business. It's about growing yourself. When you've poured hundreds of hours into a brand, wrestled through difficult decisions, survived slow seasons, learned lessons the hard way, and built something piece by piece, you become attached to it. Not because of the revenue it generates, but because of the meaning you've invested in it. You can't replicate that with shortcuts. You can't automate experience. You can't outsource resilience. The businesses that stand the test of time are often built by people who were willing to stay in the discomfort long enough to learn something from it. As parents, I don't want to raise kids who believe every obstacle is a sign they should quit. I want to raise kids who understand that some of life's greatest rewards are found on the other side of persistence. Sometimes working harder is exactly what develops the character, discipline, and grit needed to build something worth keeping. And maybe that's the part we're forgetting. What are your thoughts? by @markethouseyeg
There are branding projects… and then there are the ones you feel from day one. Working with Diana at MGB Compliance Canada Inc. was exactly that. From our very first conversation, I knew this was going to be something special. She came in with vision, courage, and zero interest in blending in. Bold colour? Yes. Personality? Absolutely. But all of it grounded in intention — building a brand that could grow with her company from the very beginning. What I loved most? She didn’t just want something that “looked good.” She wanted a brand that spoke. That meant something. That carried heart. That people would remember. And in an industry that often plays it safe… she saw the gap — and went for it. That’s where the magic happens. We’re so proud of how this one came together. It’s fresh, it’s meaningful, and it’s unmistakably hers. Here’s to building brands that don’t just fit in — they lead. If you’ve been thinking about your own brand and want to create something that actually reflects who you are and where you’re going,we’d love to work with you. Working with the owners of Leduc Trophies on their rebrand in 2025 was such a rewarding journey. Owners like these pour their hearts into the community, and it was an honour for Jessica and Kristin from Market House Ltd. to help bring their new vision to life. We helped develop refreshed branding and graphic design, a completely new website, and updated signage and storefront concepts. Every piece was designed to reflect who they are today while celebrating the legacy this company has already built. Rebranding isn’t just about new colours or fonts – it’s about revitalizing confidence, energy, and direction for the future. We’re excited to see Leduc Trophies step into this next chapter looking sharp, modern, and ready for what’s ahead. Check them out at www.leductrophies.ca or drop by their shop to meet them and see what all they offer! @leductrophies by @markethouseyeg
