Hand carved out of an Ltd ec-200qm, kfk emg pickups (swapped with esp passives) and wraparound bridge upgrade.

The effect the epoxy had on the basswood was unexpected, it knocked out most of the details in the carving which was disappointing, but gave it a gold look. Sometimes you have to expect surprises and just roll with it.

This thing has changed directions a few times along the way, but at this point I think she’s done. There are a couple small things I need to finish up (you might be able to spot them). I had a set of GH Emg’s painted and ready to go, but I didn’t leave myself enough room in the cavity to accommodate everything . Ended up going with passive Esp’s. I beefed up the epoxy just to ensure it’s more durable and functional.

Hand carved mahogany with EMG passives.
Planning on doing variations of this one, started with straight forward. That made it on the lighter side so had to add weight hidden in the control cavity to counter the neck dive. Other ones I’ll add sculpted epoxy and other twists.

Body isn’t completely finished, temporarily pinned together (note the big ugly screws). I’ll finish the details once I know the final game plan. Now I want to measure sound and figure out if and what changes when I cover some of the vents and ports. Aesthetically and possibly functionality some epoxy might be a benefit in some areas, we’ll see. Either way, nice to see it playing.

This thing is a bit of a wild experiment, wanted to try some sort of partial hollow body with rear mounted pickups. It’s been pretty much designing itself along the way one cut at a time. Neck isn’t fully seated yet and the PUs are temp mounted for a photo op…let’s see where this thing goes.
