Well I did make it to Jefferson for the car show but not as a vendor.

Beautiful weather with a good cruise through the Wisconsin countryside.

Swap meet vendor attendance was noticeably lower this year. But the car show itself had the biggest turnout I've ever seen in 40 some years but I think that was primarily due to the stellar weather.

As most people have observed car show attendance has been in decline for a number of reasons… fuel costs… generational demise (boomers dying off) irregular weather patterns… pandemics… you name it and you'd be partly correct in any respect.

Funny thing is that the younger generation have been priced out of classic cars because wealthy old collectors are hoarding other old collectors estates shortly before their demise.

The auto auctions are also seeing the changes. Aside from a few rare car models car auction prices are dropping and larger amounts of cars selling at much lower reserves.

My question is… "What direction Do you think this next generation will take this hobby"? by @markowingnutz

Wheels and wings over Waukesha had a shaky weather forecast but it cleared up but all the flyovers were called off because of low ceilings and high winds

Some prestigious awards were given and recognition for the veterans as well. Congratulations Gary Otto for the highest honor in Civilian Aviation with over 500 warbird rides he piloted!

After a little fabrication Frank and I got the transmission back in the Roadster yesterday

And today after picking up a few parts I finished reassembling the floor and clutch master cylinder and took it out for a shakedown drive to our weekly "Prayer Meeting" at Jim's Auto and Marine

And of course #TexasstormA didn't let me down and it started raining!

Jim's shop has had a group of customers and friends getting together every Friday afternoon for the past 30 years

Some call it a Safety Meeting and others a Prayer Meeting BYOBB = Bring Your Own Beer/Bible by @markowingnutz

Well it's never as simple as it's described… minor dimension differences required some tweaking and a home fabricated spacer so the throwout bearing would be able to disengage.

Hotrod parts.… Bolt right in…. Sure, right after spending time with the grinder and a hammer.

Well it's in and functional but missing some miscellaneous bolts and transmission mount!

Tomorrow it'll be buttoned up for sure by @markowingnutz

Here's the reason I haven't been posting much lately

The old S10 5 speed turned into a Zero speed.

The solution wasn't to use another S10 transmission but to use a Camaro T5 and switch out the Tailshaft for the truck shifter position.

Thanks to a good friend Rick "scrapFe" for donating a very questionable Camaro transmission that had the right parts that may or may not work!🙏

In the end there was some rust in that tranny which we remedied and replaced a couple of bearings as well as replacing the Tailshaft

I'm so blessed with the friends like Rick and Frank in this car community for all their help and parts to keep my beaters on the road! by @markowingnutz

That time of the year when we see the first boats coming in for winterization and repairs.

There is discolorized wood appearing under the varnish and closer inspection shows water leached between the wood and the varnish

Some of that is expected over time especially if water is sitting in the bilge. But this had another source introducing bacteria laden water to the bilge and when I crawled underneath to my surprise the bottom coating was bubbling off$

Quinn is really hitting it with his 327 powered 55 Chevy

He's a 20 year old machinist and buttoned up the car in 3 months from a junk hulk to a racer.

He ran his PB at 11.46 around 118 by @markowingnutz

Last night Frank Tilich and I went to the Wednesday night races at Great Lakes Dragway.

This is the second time out for his 56 Chevy since replacing a destroyed cam.

We've been working out the bugs but the dew point at 69 was a concern past 300 ft for traction.

So we put the car on the trailer and discovered that we're only getting 7/8ths throttle because of metal interference that's going to involve tools we don't normally carry.

High elevens isnt bad but we are hoping for mid to low 11s by @markowingnutz
