This has been in my drafts since last year haha

Service guided by empathy.

When I look back at 2025, I honestly thought the highlights of my year would mostly be the achievements and milestones I reached. But looking at it now, I realized that the moments that stayed with me the most were not the accomplishments, but the lessons I learned along the way—especially about what leadership and service truly mean.

Coming back here and spending more time with the Mangyan students gave me a completely different perspective. Hearing their stories, teaching/playing with them, laughing with them, and simply being present made me realize how easy it is to forget the human side of service when we become too focused on positions and/or accomplishments.

This experience reminded me that leadership is not really about being in charge or being seen. It’s about showing up for others with compassion, humility, and sincerity. Because at the end of the day, service means nothing if it is not grounded in empathy and humanity.

And I think that’s what made this experience so meaningful to me. It challenged the way I used to see leadership and reminded me that serving others is not just a responsibility we carry during our positions, but something we should continue to practice even beyond them.
