Strangely moved by the arrival of a replacement for my ICAD Craft Award bell which I received for work on Sky Sports which had been "misappropriated" many years ago.Grateful in the first instance to Shay Madden and Jonathan Stanistreet @mccannnewyork Dublin for submitting my work without my knowledge and then luring me to the award ceremony on another pretext.Grateful also to the panel of judges from @d_and_ad and the chairman of the judges who's succinct and surgically precise explainer as to how he chose the work hit hard and is to this day a standard I hold myself accountable to and my criterion for evaluating others work. Mike Garner of course who as President of ICAD that year recognised the need for external evaluation of the Irish creative and advertising industry and was responsible for the DA&D judging panel.Thanks to all at @creative_icad for including the replacement in a recent bell casting and in particular Sarah Chadwick for getting it over the line.And most of all a special thanks to my youngest daughter with her wonderful Gen Z sensibilities for teaching me that stuff like this matters and that I should try and have it replaced ❤️ #creativity #advertisingawards #skysports by @markryan.studio

Be still my beating heart.I've been wrestling with the scale relationship of the Aer Lingus IndyCar and the Aer Lingus Airbus A321XLR and how to combine them with equal impact but with deference to their Individual scale and functionality. Cropping to the car would only include the wheel of the landing gear unless I placed the aircraft at distance and both those compositions are boring and then I remembered the U-2 landing procedure which appropriately has a high performance car as an integral component. Hey, if it's worth doing it's worth doing right.Because of design compromises due to its extreme altitude ability the U-2 when landing relies on chase car "wingman on the ground" to assists the U-2 pilot from just behind the aircraft with altitude calls, alignment and safetyAerLingus landing for the Indy 500. "Hold my beer" - Alexander Rossi. 💪240mph, concrete walls and all cars running the same spec. There is no greater test of driver and commitment and it's a hairs breath between winning and loosing. Despite this scary crash during Monday’s practice session for the 110th Indianapolis 500, and subsequent surgeries, Alexander Rossi is expected to drive in the race later this weekend.I've been immersed in this all week and falling in love with IndyCar wasn't something I expected but it's epic racing. Brief creep: When you only need the landing gear but the childhood airfix modeler in your deep subconscious is telling you to do the full aircraft because 3D assets are forever. Besides the Airbus A321XLR is a beautiful aircraft. Not looking forward to adding the livery after the degree of difficulty on the IndyCar but if you're not being challenged you're learning nothing.And for those who would question why would you bother in a World of A.I? Two A.I models can't even agree on the tyre diameter so I guess I'll just get my information from Airbus.From the IndyCar parked alongside the Airbus A321XLR this project is morphing into the car driving under the aircraft as in comes into land at Indianapolis International Airport.Performance chase cars, often American muscle cars like the Dodge Charger, Ford Mustang, or Chevrolet Camaro are used to safely land the U-2 spy plane (Dragon Lady)Seems appropriate."The only easy day was yesterday"#airlingus #3dart@aerlingus by @markryan.studio

May is upon us and the countdown to the Indianapolis 500 has begun. Arguably the best test of driver talent because unlike F1, which is as much an engineering as a driver competition, all Indy cars run on the same specs.IndyCar vehicles reach top speeds of over 240 mph (386 km/h) on high-speed ovals like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with qualifying averages often exceeding 230 mph.Created to mark the beginning of direct @aerlingus flights to @indairport its a 2026 IndyCar and the livery echos the dominant white of the aircraft and the dynamic tail swirl as much as is practicable with the much narrower shape. Painting capsule textures from life.More work in progress updates.The modelling and painted elements are created to sustain renders to 16k and highly detailed prints to billboard size.Drawing the capsule model was an education in their clever engineering and functionality and it's an area I will explore further with personal work featuring "Meds" which have had massive cultural significance.@fabulouspharmacist #3dartist #irishartist #3dart #medicines by @markryan.studio
