Since I started working in the film industry I’ve always looked forward to sharing my culture, one that I'm so proud to be part of, on the big screen. 🇹🇹

I connected with Writer/Director Ian Harnarine in 2019 and I got the opportunity to produce the feature film version of his highly acclaimed Doubles short film.

I am so proud to share this movie we made and we have the honour of showcasing @doublesmovie as the Opening Gala film at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival today!

We came away with the big one from the @caribbeanfilmawards last night - BEST FEATURE FILM. So many people helped make this film and congratulations to them all. I was genuinely surprised, so I ended up sounding like a well spoken mopper.

There were some giants of the culture awarded last night, so it's humble to be considered along them. RIP to the Mighty Sparrow.

Next week we'll be heading to Georgia for the inaugural Global South Film Festival, where Doubles will be the opening night selection. As their slogan says, and to quote the great Andre3000, "The South got something to say..."

*About Doubles*

The feature film “Doubles” is an intriguing story about a Trinidadian street vendor who must travel to Toronto and decide if he will help save his estranged father from dying. This new film features Trinidad actors Errol Sitahal as well as Patti-Anne Ali Penelope Spencer and Sanjiv Boodhu (@sanjivboodhu) in the lead role.

“Doubles” is based on Harnarine’s short film “Double with Slight Pepper” which won the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Genie Award for Best Live Action Short Drama. It was financed through Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch program and received grants from the Canadian Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council.

Doubles was directed by Ian Harnarine (@harnarine). Harnarine was born in Toronto, Canada, and is the son of immigrants from Trinidad and Tobago. He attended York University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physics & Astronomy and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Illinois, as well as an MFA from NYU’s Graduate Film School.

Harnarine worked alongside Trinidadian-Canadian producer Mark Sirju (@marksirju).
