Botswana was โœจmagischโœจ

Sommige reizen wil je gewoon opnieuw beleven. ๐Ÿ˜
En spoiler: Botswana is zoโ€™n reis. Een walhalla voor wildlife en reisfotografen. ๐Ÿ“ท

In wildlife photography, timing beats luck.

Antelope in the Morning Mist
Edition 19577
Photography by @marksluijmers

Mist reduces contrast.
Light shifts every second.
The antelope move when they decide, not when youโ€™re ready.

This is the moment you wait for.
Sharp where it matters. Soft where it breathes.

Now translated into wall art, preserving every detail, every tone, every layer of depth.

Because powerful captures deserve more than a hard drive.
They deserve space.

Large statement piece or subtle calm presence for the study room ? Share your thoughts in the comments.๐Ÿ‘‡

De zon komt net op. Het licht is zacht. En danโ€ฆ staat er ineens een giraf recht voor je. ๐Ÿฆ’

Diฬt is waarom safarifotografie zo verslavend is.

* hoe je dieren eฬcht laat spreken in je beeld

Ga jij wel eens op safari? Of staat het nog op je bucketlist? ๐ŸŒ

What if the wild was looking back at you? ๐ŸŒ

On this ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐–๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ, Iโ€™m reminded why I love photography in the first place. So many memories. So many reminders of why we should be careful with our surroundings.

๐Ÿฆ’ Our son standing still on a dusty road in Murchison Falls National Park as a giraffe towers above him.
๐Ÿฆ A lionโ€™s eye holding centuries of raw instinct.
๐Ÿฆœ A scarlet macaw (fav!) exploding with colour in the Costa Rican rainforest canopy.
๐Ÿ‹ That first humpback whale sighting in Iceland.
๐Ÿ† Leopard sightings that never get boring.

As a wildlife and travel photographer, I donโ€™t just chase landscapes or animals. I chase stories. Stories about fragile ecosystems, untamed beauty, and the quiet reminder that we are guests in their world.

Every safari, every rainforest trek, every sunrise in the savannah reinforces one truth:
We protect what we feel connected to.

If one of these images made you pause โ€” even for a second โ€” then the wild has already done its job. Nature is precious, spread the message. ๐ŸŒฟ

We started driving before the world was awake and Uganda rewarded us with โœจthis.โœจ

Thereโ€™s something magical about a sunrise in Uganda during a roadtrip. The air was still cool, a soft mist hanging above the endless road, and the only sound was the hum of motorcycles cutting through the quiet morning. As a travel photographer, these are the moments I live for. Not the perfect plan, but the unexpected beauty that unfolds when you simply show up.

This was taken during our Uganda roadtrip, chasing light, stories, and real human connection. The golden sky slowly painted the landscape while local life gently came to life around us. No rush. No noise. Just authenticity.

Travel photography, for me, isnโ€™t about destinations, itโ€™s about atmosphere. About that feeling when a place welcomes you without saying a word.

Would you stop here to take it all in, or keep driving to see whatโ€™s next?

Tell me in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡ and save this post if Uganda is on your bucket list.

What if I told you that Iceland doesnโ€™t just change landscapesโ€ฆ it changes you? ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ธ

We started our roadtrip through Iceland with endless miles of silence. The kind of silence you only find on a remote Iceland roadtrip, where the horizon feels infinite and every turn reveals another wild, untouched landscape.

A must see stop? Puffins. Dozens of them, tucked into the cliffs, their bright red and orange beaks glowing against the deep green grass and blue ocean.

As a travel photographer, these are the moments you canโ€™t plan. You wait, you observe, you breathe with the landscape. And then suddenly, magic happens.

Further along our Iceland itinerary, the sound of cracking ice and crashing water replaced the silence. Glaciers carving their way through volcanic rock: raw, powerful, alive. I remember standing there with my camera, feeling tiny in the best possible way. This is why I do travel photography. To capture not just a place, but a feeling.

And thenโ€ฆ the ocean.
โ€จA whaleโ€™s tail rising slowly from the Arctic water during our whale watching tour. Time froze. Everyone on the boat held their breath. Click. One frame. A story forever.

Iceland isnโ€™t just a destination for landscape photography. Itโ€™s an experience of extremes Fire and ice, stillness and power, solitude and connection.

If youโ€™ve ever dreamed of an Iceland roadtrip, let this be your sign.
โ€จAnd if you could stand anywhere in these photos right now โ€” with the puffins, by the glacier, or on the whale watching boat โ€” where would it be? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Follow along for more travel photography, travel tips, and behind-the-scenes stories from life on the road as a travel photographer.

Before the world fully wakes, the wild whispers its secrets. ๐Ÿฆ“

Just after sunrise in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda, the mist still clung to the acacia trees as we began our safari. Every move felt amplified. The soft crunch of gravel under our wheels, the distant call of birds, the quiet rhythm of our breathing in the cool morning air.

Then, through the golden haze, a silhouette appeared.

A lone zebra, moving slowly through the tall grass as if it had all the time in the world. We stopped. No engines. No fences. Just us and the wild.

In that fragile, fleeting moment, the mist, the light, and the stripes aligned perfectly. This is why I travel. This is why I tell stories through my lens as a travel photographer: to capture the raw intimacy of places like Lake Mburo and to share authentic wildlife photography from Ugandaโ€™s untouched landscapes.

Driving through the African savannah at dawn isnโ€™t just a safari experience. Itโ€™s stepping into a living story. And every frame is a reminder that nature doesnโ€™t performโ€ฆ it simply exists.

Would you wake up before sunrise for a moment like this? ๐ŸŒฟ

We left before sunrise, not knowing that within hours we would be standing eye to eye with a giant. ๐Ÿฆ

Deep in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda, our gorilla trekking adventure began with a quiet briefing, muddy boots and the kind of anticipation you feel in your chest. Step by step we followed our ranger into the dense rainforest. Pushing through thick vegetation, ducking under branches, crossing rivers, listening to distant rustles that could mean everything or nothing.

After hours of hiking through steep, humid terrain, the tracker suddenly raised his hand. Silence. A crack of a branch. A low rumble. And then: there he was. A massive silverback mountain gorilla, calm and aware, watching us just as closely as we were watching him.

Time shifted.
โ€จA mother resting in the undergrowth. A young gorilla curiously observing from behind a curtain of leaves. The silverback lying back, powerful yet peaceful. Endangered, vulnerable, but at the same time impossibly present.

As a traveler and photographer, these are the moments I live for. Not just wildlife photography, but visual storytelling that connects conservation, humanity and raw nature. Standing a few meters away from one of the last remaining mountain gorillas in the world is more than a bucket list experience: itโ€™s a reminder of why protecting places like Bwindi matters.

Uganda doesnโ€™t just offer adventure. It offers perspective.

โ€จAfrican mornings just hit different. Especially when a silent mist wraps the grass land surroundings of Lake Mburo like a secret.

Before sunrise, we set out into the cool quiet, hearts racing with anticipation, boots soft on dew-kissed grass. The air smelled of earth and promise.

Step by step, the fog liftedโ€ฆ Revealing a lone kob standing still as a heartbeat. Its gaze steady, unfazed by the dawn chorus awakening all around.

This is what true travel feels like.
โ€จThis is what being a photographer is all about: chasing light, capturing emotion, and telling the untold.

I came to Uganda chasing wildlife, but the road had other plans.

From golden sunsets over the green savannah to the first light touching the Nile, this roadtrip through Uganda surprised me at every turn. Leopards in the grass, gorillas in the mist, zebras crossing the frame, misty roads, quiet moments, loud laughter. And everywhere: people who carry this country with a warmth you donโ€™t forget.

Traveling with @ugandanomads reminded me why I love travel and photography: itโ€™s not just about what you see, but about what stays with you long after the dust settles.

Uganda isnโ€™t only wild, itโ€™s deeply human, endlessly photogenic, and full of stories waiting to be told.
