If you’re attaching your goals to a number 👇

At the start of the year, a client asked me what my goal for the business was.

$50k/month - I blurted out.

The truth is idk why I said that.
It was at that time just a number I thought was far away enough that seemed big.
(I was barely hitting $10k)

Fast forward 8 months (who knew)
I hit it.
When I closed that last deal,
I celebrated.
Called my girlfriend, my family, a mentor.

But 5 mins later, I felt nothing.
Just more work that needed to be done.
Some employees that were giving me trouble.
The need to explain the same thing to the client
For the 100th time.

That’s when I realised -
Maybe I was building it all wrong.
I didn’t have the foundations
And spent nights till 3am fulfilling.

I was the bottleneck to my business.
I was the only one who could “get the job done”.
And ever client clamoured for my time.
I was just an overpaid employee.

Then I looked at some of my peers.
They were earning more than me.
And they were living a sick life.
They were jacked, had time with family and friends,
And they seemed genuinely happy.

So i realised that this had to stop.
Not the revenue goals.
But the way i achieved it.

I fired some team members.
Had a stern talk with those who stayed,
Promoted those who I wanted along this journey.
And started building systems, SOPs, and processes
So that they too could handle the work without me.

And it’s truly enlightening to see some of them
Taking responsibility, ownership and genuinely
Growing into better people.
Better skills, better attitudes and being proud of their own work.

(Of course there are bad apples who drop out too but that’s a story for another day).

So if you’re attaching your worth to a number,
It may not always be worth it if you’re doing it unsustainably.
Take a look not only at what you’re achieving, but also what it’s costing you.
And build your business in a way that u get a net gain.
You literally have control over this. by @markus.restive

It wasn’t easy to grow this business.
But if I can help someone to shortcut that process
Or avoid some of the mistakes I made,
I’d love to help.

Working hard daily.
But going nowhere.

2 to 3 years passed.
No promotion came.
No real pay raise.
That changes you.

You start wondering,
am I actually valued,
or just useful
until I’m not?

Then the motorcycle accident happened.
And it woke me up.
Life felt fragile.
Time felt real.

So I left.
And started my business.
And honestly,
it was hard.

People left.
Clients treated us badly.
There were setbacks.
There was doubt.

But we kept going.
Kept learning.
Kept building.
Kept growing.

Today, we’ve grown the team.
Hit goals we wanted.
Watched people develop.
And still protected what matters.

Fitness.
Family.
Growth.
Freedom.

Still a long way to go.
Still figuring things out.
But at least now,
there’s progress.

If you’re also trying
to figure out your life
and find your way out,
follow along. by @markus.restive

Getting sober didn’t make my life smaller. It made room for more of what actually matters.

More time, more presence, more energy, and more moments I would’ve otherwise missed.

Sometimes, growth isn’t about adding more to your life. It’s about letting go of what no longer serves you.

Working hard doesn’t always mean you’re moving in the right direction.

Sometimes you can spend months putting in the effort and still feel like you’re running in circles because you don’t have a clear target.

The right guidance can help you see what needs to change, what to focus on, and where your effort actually matters.

Once you have clarity, progress starts to feel very different. You’re no longer just working harder. You’re finally moving forward.

The right connections can open doors that cold outreach never could.

But building a network isn’t about collecting as many contacts as possible. It’s about becoming someone people remember, trust, and genuinely want to work with.

The more consistently you show up, contribute, and put your work out there, the more opportunities can come from relationships you didn’t expect.

Your network isn’t just who you know. It’s what people know you for.

Building something of your own isn’t supposed to be easy.

There will be difficult clients, tough decisions, money pressure, and moments when you question if it’s worth it.

But sometimes, the struggle is proof that you’re building something instead of staying stuck.

The goal isn’t to avoid struggle.
It’s to struggle for something worth building.

Keep going, bro. by @markus.restive

No case studies. No testimonials. No crazy connections.

That doesn’t mean you can’t land your first clients.

I’ve changed my agency offer multiple times, and every pivot taught me something that helped build the foundation for the next stage.

If you’re starting an agency from scratch, here’s how to get your first few clients without faking your experience or results.

Starting a business with friends? Think carefully.

Friendship and business are two very different relationships. I’ve learned this firsthand—when partners left during difficult moments, I had to step up and take on work I’d never done before.

It was tough, but it taught me one thing:

You don’t choose a business partner the same way you choose a friend.

Choose someone who’s willing to take the same risks, have the hard conversations, and stay when things get difficult. by @markus.restive

My first real breakthrough didn’t feel like a breakthrough.

It felt like a crisis.

A $2,000 client. No experience. A missing business partner. And one choice: figure it out or walk away.

I chose to figure it out.

That decision became our first real case study — and a reminder that sometimes, the opportunities that scare you most are the ones that show you what you’re capable of. by @markus.restive
