I keep meaning to post more regularly again but time just flies by and next thing I know, months have passed. We’ve been busy keeping up with our 2 little ones while balancing time with Markus, and all the usual adulting things. Spring always gives me a boost of energy and motivation though so hopefully I can get back to sharing more of Markus and our days!

Happy 11th birthday and happy 8th gotcha day Markus!

These days, his adventures are more like long neighborhood walks and trying to avoid little toddler hooman’s many toys on the floor. Even with the slower pace, we still see bursts of energy when he does occasional zoomies, destuffs his toys, or aggressively nudging us for pets and neck scratches. He’s still the best big brother. Him and the little toddler hooman act like typical siblings who are bff’s one minute and the next minute are fighting for same space. He’s been very sweet with little baby hooman, often checking on her when she’s crying or going over to sniff her head during tummy time.

We’ve had many changes over the years but Markus has been so good at adjusting and going with the flow. He’s been the best doggo, first born (fur)baby, adventure buddy, and big brother. We love you so much Markus!

Markus loves to relax on our bed, especially once the temperatures start getting cooler. And with the changing temps also comes the shedding. We try to brush him regularly and he gets groomed every few months, which helps a lot. And in between all that, we just have to accept that belly rubs and neck scratchies mean lots of loose fur.

It’s officially fall but we’re still enjoying our long walks in the warm sunshine! I wouldn’t mind the cooler temperatures but I’m really not looking forward to all the rain 😩

Adventures are waiting on every street corner!

Life’s been busy with lots of life changes so we haven’t been able to post lately. Markus is still living his best life but at a much slower pace these days. Adventures are also a little different, with more walks around playgrounds and some city explorings! If you saw in our stories a few weeks ago, we shared our happy news that Markus is a big brother again. We welcomed another little human into our family earlier this year and Markus has been adjusting to our busier and noisier home. He’s been doing great but definitely needs his quiet space once in a while.

Markus loves to sleep on our bed, but it’s always a struggle during shedding season (which sometimes feels like it’s year-round). Time has flown by way too fast, and I can’t believe he’s 10 now! He’s grown into such a gentle and mellow pup over the years, even taking on the role of big brother to our little hooman with such ease. We love you Markus!

Smiles are free, so sprinkle that everywhere!

I feel like summer just started but it’s now almost ending 😩 The warm sunny days always give me extra energy. I feel more motivated to be out and about in the summer and just want to soak up the sun. Markus though is a lot more loungey and chill during the really warm days. And I don’t blame him, he’s trying to stay cool in the heat.
As he nears his 10th birthday, it also makes me wonder how much of his mellowness is from the heat and how much is from his age. He’s definitely lower energy than years past and needs more rest in between activities. To boost his health, Markus gets joint supplements regularly as well as kelp, blue spirulina and probiotics, but I wonder if he needs anything different for his age.
For those with older dogs, did you change any supplements to account for your dog’s age?
