Sometimes getting exactly what you needed still breaks your heart.

I am standing at a threshold.

At 64, my life looks very different than I thought it would.

Matchmaking—the work that defined so much of my life—is winding down. Mediumship and healing work has moved to the forefront. I am still in the inbetween. 🦇

And recently, after ten long months, I finally sold my late mother’s home near Seattle.

I thought I would feel relief.

Then my realtor sent me a photo.

The new owners—a beautiful couple—were standing in the front doorway of my mother’s house.

And I lost it. That is my mother’s doorway!
I started sobbing. 😭

Because sometimes getting exactly what you needed still breaks your heart.

I was relieved. Grateful. Free of the expense and responsibility.

And grieving.

That house had held a chapter of my life that I could never walk back into.

The other night I went to a sound bath, and a friend took this photo of me. When I saw that beam of light crossing through my body, I couldn’t stop looking at it.

It felt like a threshold.

Not who I was. Not quite who I’m becoming. Somewhere in between.

And I know I’m not the only woman standing there.
