Six months ago I pledged myself to a man who is the epitome of sacrifice.

My days have been just as vibrant, rich, and full of exuberance as the day we were wed. Somehow every stage with Treyson has been better than the last, which is how I hear it tends to go when you marry the best of the best. How I’m supposed to handle watching him become a dad, I genuinely have no clue.

Celebrating one (1) whole entire year in Oregon!

I haven’t encountered a day here where I haven’t been overwhelmed at God’s persistence in handing me Goodness I don’t deserve. I’ve never been more passionate about His call to study and bring forth Beauty. I’ve never felt more tangibly the tenderness of the Father against the ragged rawness of my humanness. I’ve never been more in love with life! With my Savior! With my husband! With our cozy life here!

This is truly the abundant life!! More, Lord!!

It’s been just over 3 months since the day Treyson and I got dressed up and went to lunch after church. It had been raining all morning. I put on a blue & white dress that I really liked.

The plan was that we would spend the afternoon together - hit up our favorite coffee shop after lunch. But as we pulled out of the restaurant parking lot, Treyson suddenly let me know that he’d left his backpack at church that morning. We were close by, so we’d just swing back there on our way to coffee to pick it up.

Walking up to the church doors hand-in-hand with Treyson, I felt in my heart an excitement - the sun had come out, the Lord felt near, and my beloved and I were spending a lovely date afternoon in our hometown. Could it get any better than this??

Treyson opened the door to our church’s youth space - the place we met almost 10 years ago. I realized the room wasn’t dark and silent like it typically was after a Sunday gathering came and went. I could see a warm glow around the corner, and I thought I recognized the familiar melody of one of our favorite songs playing.

Then we turned the corner. The room looked like I had never seen it before. Candles, draped fabric - the most stunning, romantic setup I’d ever seen. It took no time for my mind to catch up with what was happening.

I stood frozen in my tracks, overwhelmed with a surreal joy and gravity, gripping the handle of my bag with both hands. Treyson looked at me with his always-reassuring, always-inviting smile, gently took my bag from me, and placed it on the ground. “Come on,” he said gently, taking my hand. And he led me across the room.

At this point I was already weeping. What he said next was a blur. It was perfectly lovely, and I hardly remember anything except that next, he was on one knee and I finally got to say yes to the love of my life.

Just a post to say how thrilled I am to be surrounded by so much new!

New state! New friends! New job! Newly engaged! I thank God every morning for another day of loving Treyson and living out the adventure that the Lord is taking us on!

God has overwhelmed us with provision, mercy, incredible community, and surrounded us with so much BEAUTY - the medicine to all hearts.

Moving cross-country is weird. And really difficult. My heart has been in Texas all my life. And so is my family. So this season will take a lot of dependence on God and pruning by his hand. But he is faithful, and he has never been anything but Good to me.

I love you, @treyson_west ! Let’s go on an adventure!

He’s gentle like Jesus, patient, full of courage, has an adventurous spirit, is hilarious beyond comprehension, and he is so, so Good to me. Far more than I deserve.

Over the past four years, green and gold have ironically become my favorite colors.

They’re the colors my camera gravitates to. The colors of life and light, two things God taught me a lot about during my time at Baylor.

To me, green is a walk by the Brazos, the dominant color in my wardrobe, the potted plants I collected, the hue of nature, the color of growth and change, and the eye color I inherited from my mama.

Gold is the patch of sun on my wall in the morning, the color of summer, my jewelry metal of choice, the warmth of authentic community, and the color that draws my thoughts to God.

During my time at Baylor, the Source of life and light - the Painter of Green and Gold since Genesis - made himself more alive and bright to me than ever before! Thank you God for the gift of enlightenment through learning! Thank you Jesus for being the Way to Life and the Light of the World! Thank you Holy Spirit for being the breath of life in my lungs these past four years!

I once heard someone wise say that college is a formation machine - you enter as one thing and leave as another, like it or not.

Because of the grace of Jesus,
I went into college hopeful and left thankful.
I went into college with a big head and left with a soft heart.
I went into college ready to do big things for God and left in awe that he even lets me join him in the little things.

Cheers to growing and changing in the light of Jesus’ glory and grace. And cheers to green & gold and flinging them far! Sic’ em forever!
