My good brother Dervan🇯🇲,

On behalf of the millions of persons of Jamaican descent worldwide, you were more than just a voice broadcasting on air. You were a national instrument of connection @mfaftja @kaminajsmith @power106_876. For well over 30 years, you used your voice to stitch together the fabric of Jamaican life, from Kingston to South Florida, London to Toronto, and every community where Jamaicans have planted roots. Through your work, our Diaspora did not feel distant, we felt heard, seen, and essential to Jamaican life.

You carried our stories with dignity and humanity. You opened your microphone to everyday Jamaicans and made our experiences part of the national conversation. And in moments of global significance, including the historic 2015 visit of President @BarackObama, we were there together to capture the moment on the tarmac of Norman Manley ✈️ 📸 @petesouza.

To all of us, you were a reminder of our place in this world.
May your Rabalac 💚🖤legacy @officialcalabarhighschool continue to inspire other voices for generations to come. Thank you for seeing us and bringing both sides of our story. Walk good, my brother. 🌈 by @marlonhill

Epic humid 🥵@visitmiami day for FWC26 quarterfinal between ENG🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and NOR🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. The afternoon began with a special behind the scenes look of @fifaworldcup Tournament Operations HQ - over 2,000+’team members overseeing over 640+ operational sites and 45+ stadium cameras for the live broadcast and logistic & safety management - then the live energy of two European titans going for semifinal glory in @fwc26atlanta. Special surprise memory for family friend nephew Jamesy Morrison🇯🇲 @kassimdamani @deikamorrison for all his hard work in school and just being a positive young man. Big thanks to my @greatermiamicvb @fwc26miami family for the warm hospitality and making us feel like Kings 👑. Miami is such a special place.

For caribeños and members of the cuban diaspora, Miami is a place unlike any other; a cultural “home” of sorts that raises important, challenging questions about migration, home, belonging and rebuilding.

Which it to say, it meant something extra special to bring this story - my story - back to a community that, I hope in some small way, sees elements of its own reflection.

Broward County FL residents, elected officials, and county government staff, please know that you are in capable hands with your new Chief Legal Officer/County Attorney, Annika Ashton @ashton_fl 🇯🇲🇺🇸. You raised her in your school system and prepared her for a successful academic career at two distinguished Ivy League institutions, @princeton University in New Jersey, where she earned her undergraduate degree, before going on to complete her law degree at @columbialawschool.

After a tenured stint as your Deputy County Attorney, Mayor @mark_bogen and the Broward County Commission swore in Annika into her new role yesterday before family and friends of the Bar at @theflabar, @caribbeanbarassociation, @wdfjba, @tjreddickbar, @miamidadebar_, @browardbar, among others.
