We are thrilled and grateful to welcome our good friend and world-class drummer Marlon Patton to our core group of rhythm section members.

Marlon is one of Nashville’s most respected and versatile drummers, producers, and engineers, renowned for his exceptional feel, musical intuition, and unwavering commitment to serving the song. Throughout his career, he has performed and recorded with an extraordinary range of artists, including Liv Warfield, John Patitucci, Randy Brecker, Jeff Coffin, Larkin Poe, Lonnie Holley, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. More recently, he has recorded and/or performed with Lyle Lovett, Lizz Wright, Mitski, Nels Cline, and Larry Goldings.

Equally accomplished behind the console, Marlon is a sought-after producer, engineer, and mixer whose creativity, musical depth, and professionalism elevate every project he touches. His remarkable musicianship, humility, and collaborative spirit make him an invaluable addition to the Trapped In Nashville experience.

I debated whether to share on socials but it feels like part of the process in this world we live in.

We celebrated my dad, Bart Patton’s life with some immediate family over the weekend with a wonderful potluck, beautiful stories, love, hugs, laughter and tears.

He was a boy clown on Super Circus (syndicated in Chicago) in the 40s. Went to UCLA in the 50s. Started acting in TV and film in the 50s and 60s (starred in Dementia 13- Coppola’s very first film!) Switched to directing and assistant directing in the 60s and 70s. Married my mom in 80. He lived an incredibly full life.

Bart taught me how to be a man and never missed a chance to tell me how proud he was. I am so incredibly thankful for that. He was an amazing father that got fully into everything I was into as a kid. From model trains, to zip lines, baseball, and of course music. I wouldn’t be anything close to the musician I am without being asked to come play drums with the adults at the jam sessions and the parties my folks used to throw in Atlanta. He got me into recording on an old 4 track he had and I very much inherited his handy nature in building and fixing stuff around the house. I still remember how to tie a bowline on a bite from when you taught me as a boy.

I wish he’d have been there but I know somewhere a champagne cork was popping. I love you dad and miss you so much. ❤️❤️❤️ by @marlonpatton
