🎙️ It’s been another busy week for SEND Protect!

Our wonderful Cara was invited to join Laura Parker on the Business Show at Marlow FM for an hour of financial discussion.

Cara spoke about SEND Protect and the importance of helping families of children with additional needs access clear, trusted financial education, protection and support when planning for the future.

They also discussed a recent Guardian article about Child Trust Funds, highlighting an important issue for SEND families — what happens when a Child Trust Fund matures at 18, particularly where a young person may not have the mental capacity to manage their finances independently?

There can also be important considerations around accessing the money and means-tested benefits, as savings above certain thresholds may affect eligibility. Understanding who can access the funds, how they can be managed and what support may be needed is something families should be aware of before their child turns 18.

The episode also featured James Justice from Justice Wealth Management, who shared insights into how families can make the most of AI within personal finance.

These conversations matter. SEND families can face complex financial decisions, and having access to clear information and practical signposting can make a real difference.

💙

A huge thank you to Laura Parker and Marlow FM for inviting Cara onto the show. @marlowfm
