my annual reminder that summer isn’t over yet by @marquezmic

I could say so much about what what my 30th year taught me, but truthfully this weekend was the highlight reel of all the lessons I learned this year: finding joy even if it means going alone, letting go of being cringe screaming songs I loved as a kid, and then topping it all off with the artist that reminded me this year that love in all of its forms is all around and that’s really the whole point of life anyway.

This was the year I turned off the auto pilot of crossing things off my life checklist, letting go, and finding the things I love that made me, me again. I traveled to some of my dream destinations, moved back home for a bit, drove through the streets of my hometown, swam laps in my high school pool, took pottery classes where I went to preschool, danced in my childhood bedroom, played pretend as makeup artist and stylist, chased my childhood dream of being a model and actually made it happen. I found my younger self again and realized how much I missed her.

So, if I can leave you with any advice at the end of this novel caption - it’s to slow the hell down and be present. Choose yourself every time, and in the wise words of Olivia Dean, the more you look, the more you’ll find it’s all around you all the time 💜 by @marquezmic
