October, Thursday and 8pm are all Gray is colour.
I want to travel the world even though I’ve never left my country, My favourite colour is brown.
I do horribly with routines, and I like my face (sometimes).
I like my voice too.
I want a big life and greatest fear is not living out my potential.

The algorithm brought me to you for a reason, follow or you might never see me again.

6 things I wish I learned earlier as a 23y/o former gifted child learning to navigate adulthood

1. Effort is a skill: For most of my life, I got away with excelling by doing the barest minimum where other people struggled. Over time, I came to associate the absence of “effortlessness” with failure and decided if it required me to try, or look like I was trying, then I just wasn’t good at it. I realize now it’s just internalized shame and from probably only getting attention when I proved myself worthy of it by being super good at everything. I know better now.

2. Smart people can do dumb things too: In fact, some of the dumbest, silliest things ever recorded were done by people who should have known better. That’s what makes you human, do stuff, make amends quickly and MOVE ON.

3. Real life is deeper than your GPA: I learnt this one the funniest way because I would explain concepts to my course mates after lectures and they would score higher than me in tests or exams. You need to get out of your head, develop people skills and to work on how the people around perceive you.

4. Smart≠Success: I always knew I was sitting on massive potential come to find out no one ever handed things to you on the basis of “I know her, she’s smart. So now I’m working on my competence outside of academic and cognitive metrics. It’s been interesting no lies.

5. Comparison is a thief of Joy: People are on their own different timelines and you will definitely get frustrated trying to measure your personal success by the motion of people around you. The only person you should be trying to outdo is the you of yesterday.

6. You only live once ❌: Wrong. You can live multiple lives in one lifetime but you only die once. So don’t just exist to play it safe, try everything and actually make sure to live before you can’t anymore.

I’m a Psychology graduate and aspiring model who’s trying to show up more outside of my comfort zone and I post about my journey to maximizing my lived experiences. What number would you be incorporating into your daily life?
