It was exactly 10 years ago that I finally got the courage, after hitting an emotional rock bottom, to attend Codependents Anonymous meeting. Most are familiar with AA OR NA or Al-anon but not many know that codependency can be just as deadly. I wanted to not exist. These rooms helped me heal parts of me yearning to feel love and acceptance. It was I who saved myself. It was my connection to all that is that helped me see life as beautiful as it is, even at its ugliest. I became authentically me, unapologetically me, embracing myself fully without caring what others thought. Ten years of healing ❤️‍🩹. Ten years of looking at my pain and embracing it with 💗 love and compassion. It’s important to take that first step to heal, in whatever space that may be. But do it. Familia in Coco Bounds! I didn’t appreciate I had to chase Miguel but I did eventually catch up to him. Coco was the first Disney film I felt seen and represented. When it’s over 101 degrees at the park, you dress to match, “halo” 😈 and all. How to survive heatwaves at the park? Cooling towel was a huge factor. I had it on all day, soaking wet. Stayed in shade as much as possible, fan and attractions that were indoors. I took advantage of every place for free water cups with ice. Hispanic Heritage month is here and as much I dislike the word Hispanic, I’m writing it in this caption. I’m embracing my roots, as a daughter of immigrant parents of Jalisco, Mexico. 🇲🇽 Happy Mexican Independence Day, which is really in 1810 when the call for uprising began, not the actual day of independence. I honor my ancestors, my culture, my roots. Here’s my Iron Man version with this dress that I originally got for Queen Amidala I did last year. I’m also participating in @latinxmagia prompts of embracing your culture. It’s 9/5 Lightning McQueen day. I actually remembered to post again. I have so many more to post from summer before I begin spooky post. I also visited Colorado Garden of the Gods which feel like CarsLand. There is lots of debate on respectful character interactions lately. Since my account shows characters, I wanted to share my practices as I look and take character pictures around the park. I follow the person being judged and by no means here to judge her, because I’ve seen men follow princesses much worse. But I do want to point out not all Disney adults should be judged by one person. Nor should we attack a person for not meeting a norm. There are no official rules when interacting with characters, yet it feels like maybe there should be to protect those representing our favorite characters. Maybe that’s why my retirement dream is to be a character handler. 😂 I’m a Disney adult but also a sports lover and know we all have fandoms we love and respect should always be in the forefront when interacting with any fandom (character, sports athlete, or actor) you love. 💗 #characterinteraction #peterpangirl #disneyadults by @marshabelieves
