Today’s assignment came with an unexpected co-anchor.🎙️👶

Our nanny called in sick this morning. I had two lawmakers to interview outside the State Capitol and no backup plan. So I showed up anyway, baby in arms.

Moms have normalized this. Dads should too. Parenting doesn’t pause for deadlines and neither should the conversation around it.

To every parent figuring it out in real time today, I see you. 👊

Colorado created a law to prevent AI deepfakes from influencing elections. The first complaint filed reveals a potential flaw in the law. The complaint about a deepfake that could sway an election, won’t have a hearing until after the election. taken in Denver, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

Democratic U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper is 74. His Republican challenger, State Sen. Mark Baisley is 71. Ahead of our debate at MSU Denver, I sat down with six students, whose combined ages are less than Hickenlooper and Baisley. I asked them if 70s are too old to be running for Congress and what they care about at their age. taken in Metropolitan State University of Denver by @marshallzelinger

Burnham Yard update! No, the Denver Broncos haven’t locked it in as their official stadium site yet. But what the city did today is a necessary step before that could happen. taken in Denver, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

I was shown how counties are able to report correct results for ballot issue 7A even though it shows up on 800,000 more ballots than it is supposed to be on.

Bella issue 7A is the proposed sales tax for Front Range Passenger Rail. In four counties, the ballot issue shows up on 800,000 more ballots than it is supposed to because the boundary map was never updated for those counties.

Counties are able to filter the specific precincts that should have 7A on them in order to report accurate results for the 7A election. taken in Greeley, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

Elon Musk is still at it, sending Colorado voters text messages through his political action committee. Texts that can and probably should be ignored. New texts are coming. This is an update to my Oct. 2 that was picked up by CNN and Aaron Parnas. taken in Denver, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

UPDATE: 800,000 ballots mistakenly have issue 7A on them. The update is for voters to vote whatever is on their ballot. The four counties where this is an issue, Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas and Weld, the county clerks in those counties will be processing ballots to not count race 7A on the ballots that should not have 7A on them. How does that work? I’ll have a visual example for you next week. taken in Denver, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

No, there is no hand count of Colorado’s election. This misleading flyer was left on the door of someone’s home in Aurora. It leads someone to think that there are teams that hand count the election in Arapahoe County.

This is not from Arapahoe County. This is from a group that mistakenly believes hand counting is more accurate for elections. I can say mistakenly because the former Republican Elbert County clerk did a test hand count of an election a few years ago and found that the machine count was more accurate. And that’s just one of many examples. taken in Aurora, Colorado by @marshallzelinger

About 800,000 are seeing issue 7A on their ballots when they’re not eligible to vote in the race.

Issue 7A is about the Front Range Passenger Rail District that would create a 10 cent on $30 purchase sales tax for to expand a yet-to-be-built Front Range rail line.

Voters in specific cities in Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas and Weld Counties should have 7A on their ballot but not all voters in those counties. About 800,000 voters in those counties will get ballots with 7A on it because the clerks in those counties did not get an updated district map from the rail district.

The video lists the cities that are in the district and describes what I know so far. taken in Denver, Colorado by @marshallzelinger
