Welcome to the world, Baby Z! 🌸✨ It was such an honor to support this beautiful family as their doula and capture these unforgettable moments as their photographer. Mama showed incredible strength, staying brave and determined through two sleepless nights to bring her sweet baby girl earthside. 💕 Dad was the ultimate birth partner, ensuring every part of Mama’s birth plan was honored with love and care. 💪🏼 Together, they made a powerful team, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of their journey! 🫶🏼

Tap to see the benefits 👇🏽

In an undisturbed birth, where the environment is supportive and calm, your body can naturally regulate and optimize the production of key hormones. This helps make labor smoother and enhances both physical and emotional health for you and your baby. Here’s how these hormones play a role:

1. Estrogen and Progesterone: Throughout pregnancy, estrogen and progesterone levels are high, preparing your body for childbirth. During a calm, undisturbed birth, the natural decrease in progesterone and the relative increase in estrogen help stimulate uterine contractions and prepare the cervix for delivery. 🌸

2. Oxytocin: This “love hormone,” when released in a peaceful setting, enhances contractions and makes them more effective. It also boosts emotional bonding and reduces stress, helping you feel more connected to your baby immediately after birth. 🤱❤️

3. Beta-Endorphin: This is your body’s natural painkiller. In an undisturbed birth, higher levels of beta-endorphin help you manage labor pain naturally, which can make the childbirth experience less painful and more fulfilling. 😌🌈

4. Catecholamines (Adrenaline and Noradrenaline): These hormones give you a surge of energy during labor, which is essential for pushing. In the right amounts, they also help your baby become alert and ready to initiate that first important breastfeed. ⚡👶

5. Prolactin: Known as the mothering hormone, prolactin not only helps in milk production but also enhances maternal instincts. Its levels increase in a calm environment, ensuring you are ready to nurse and bond with your newborn. 🥛

By ensuring the birth environment is undisturbed, these hormones can work in harmony, supporting a smoother labor, effective pain management, and immediate bonding with your baby. This natural hormonal balance is crucial for a positive and healthy childbirth experience. 🌟💪

📌Save this for your next prenatal visit or care provider interview.

Here are 5 must-ask questions for your next provider interview. If they don’t measure up, remember it’s never too late to switch!

1. Consent is Key 🗝️: Always ensure they ask for your permission before any physical contact. It’s about respect and your autonomy in every interaction!

2. Vaccine Transparency💉: They should willingly disclose vaccine ingredients and respect your decision, whether you opt in or out. Informed choices matter!

3. Flexible Testing Options 🔄: A respectful provider offers alternative methods for gestational diabetes testing and other procedures. Your comfort and preferences should guide their suggestions.

4. Freedom to Move🤰: During labor, moving freely and choosing your birthing position can impact your experience significantly. Your provider should support this autonomy.

5. Informed Decisions 📚: Expect a breakdown of benefits, risks, and alternatives for all treatments and procedures. Knowledge is power!

👉 If your current provider isn’t ticking these boxes, it’s time to find someone who does. Your health, your rules! 💪 ParentingTips 📌 Remember to Save

This is so important 🔻

Here are three essential practices for optimal newborn care:

📌 Save these to give your baby the best start right after birth!

1️⃣ Leave the Vernix Alone and Don’t Give Them a Bath: Vernix, the white, waxy substance covering a newborn’s skin, acts as a natural moisturizer and protective barrier against infection. By leaving it intact, your baby can benefit from its hydrating and protective properties, promoting healthy skin development.

2️⃣ Immediately Do Skin-to-Skin: Skin-to-skin contact between the baby and parents promotes bonding, regulates temperature, stabilizes blood sugar levels, and supports successful breastfeeding initiation. It fosters emotional connection and attachment while helping the baby adapt to their new environment.

3️⃣ **Delay Cord Clamping Until the Umbilical Cord Stops Pulsing**: Delaying cord clamping allows your baby to receive the full volume of blood from the placenta, enriching their iron stores and supporting healthy development. This practice helps prevent iron deficiency anemia and promotes optimal blood circulation, oxygenation, and overall newborn health.

These three practices provide the best start for your baby, supporting their immediate well-being and long-term health outcomes.

HERE IS WHY

If your goal is to have a natural, instinctive, and gentle birth then you’ll want to save this 📌

🕰️ Inductions (Pitocin): Inductions can speed up labor but may lead to stronger, more painful contractions, making it harder to cope without pain relief. They can also disrupt the body’s natural hormone balance, affecting the flow of labor.

💧 IV Fluids: While IV fluids can keep you hydrated during labor, they can also lead to swelling and make it harder to move around comfortably. Staying hydrated by drinking water instead can help you feel more in control.

👶 Continuous Fetal Monitoring: Constant monitoring means staying in bed, limiting movement, and may lead to more interventions if there are minor changes in the baby’s heartbeat. Intermittent monitoring allows more freedom to walk and change positions, promoting a smoother labor process.

💉 Epidural: While epidurals offer effective pain relief, they can also numb sensations and make it harder to push effectively. They may also increase the likelihood of needing interventions like forceps or vacuum assistance during delivery.

🌊 Artificial Rupture of Membranes (Breaking the Water Sac Early): Breaking the water sac can speed up labor but may lead to stronger, more intense contractions and increase the risk of infection. It’s best to let the water break naturally if possible.

🩺 Frequent Cervical Exams:
These exams can be uncomfortable and might not always show how close you are to giving birth. Sometimes, they can make you feel worried if things aren’t moving as fast as expected. So, having fewer exams can help you feel more relaxed and let your body do its thing without rushing.
