Still fulfilling these custom orders. This one was for a birthday gift and went with olive oil and vinegar pourers. They came out beautifully. Check my last video to see how they look.

This firing was very polarizing.

All of the sapphire float pieces which are the black and blue pieces came out the most beautiful and the best they have ever turned out.

On the other hand…

The Stormy blue which is the brown and blue turned out just ok in my opinion but it was still good because there was still a some blue swirl

The layered came out all runny which was confusing because it worked out last time. Maybe it was too thick.

Anyways back to the drawing board.

PT IS COMING BACK TOMORROW. FOLLOW TO SEE THE LID

I have always not liked making lidded jars purely because they take so long to make. You have to throw two parts and then let both dry.

As I close in on a week after my most recent farmers market I am reflecting on what I did well and what I could improve.

First, the good things that I believe I did. I made pottery that focused on the more functional side of things, such as olive oil pourers, hand soap dispensers, and more bowls. These while being useful by themselves also coincidentally complimented some of the vases and succulent holders. That was a definite surprise for me but it’ll be a good thing to keep in mind for upcoming markets. Another great thing that has continued to be a success is the idea of having the option for kids to make their own pinch pot. It gets them excited and also helps me practice teaching.

Things that I need to improve on are next. I was getting lots of attention for the wheel and pinch pots so I needed to figure out how to give equal time to each activity for each kid. It was my first time jumping around so I think I can do better at budgeting my time next time. Another thing I want to do more is man the table and talk to more people. It’s just something I enjoy.

Making content sometimes takes super long so I go in phases of wanting to do it and not wanting to. I’m kinda in a slump right now because I’ve been focusing on perfecting my throwing. New videos coming soon I promise.

The nerves of the kiln firing and THEN IT HAS THE NERVE TO MAKE ME WAIT?! What the heck! The days when the kiln are firing are not fun I get too excited to unload that I end up doing nothing all day. Oopsie.

I decided today that I don’t show a ton of my throwing process anymore so I’m trying to incorporate that into each throwing video I do. So here’s a pull at 2x speed.
I’ve been working on getting each of my pulls taller because I use to gain no height with each pull of clay. I think I’m getting better.
