Introducing our Community Organizer & DJ: Mars Motion 🥳

Mars Motion (they/them) is a multi-hyphenate, queer Haitian artist native to Queens, NYC. Their work spans across event curation, production, photography, videography, hosting, dancing and DJing. Mars is a Virgo, passionate about bringing dyaspora together to connect and celebrate music, movement, culture as well as life experiences.

Coming from a family of Haitian creatives — performers, visual artists, dancers, vinyl and digital DJs — they’ve been engaged with art, music and performance their whole life. From studying dance professionally and performing in theatre to photographing major entertainment events and more recently, creating public music activations and community events, their artistic journey has been full of curiosity and exploration.

Mars’ first loves were music and movement. They are the founding community organizer of Queer Konpa, a space for queer and trans people to explore Konpa music and dance, Haitian culture and beyond. This space was created with the intention of being a place for Queer Haitians and QTBIPOC in NYC to gather and connect through sound, movement, cultural exchange and conversations. Mars has continuously hosted, operated, produced and poured into Queer Konpa from day one. They rotate between roles as needed such as social media manager, graphic design, co-instructor, photographer, videographer, DJ and more.

Tomorrow, September 20th, they will be spinning during Queer Konpa: Lakay Edition 🤍 Starting at 6pm, you can expect to hear the sounds of Konpa, Gouyad and more. Come celebrate and wish them a Happy (Early) Birthday 🎈Very Limited Spots | RSVP Required | Exclusively for LGBTQIAP+ 🌈 | 21+
