One year of “girl I need to get my nails redone before tomorrow”. Of bringing you nutella biscuits for the big day because I knew how much you loved them. Of meeting each one of your (immense) family members and see two complete different cultures coming together. One year of bawling my eyes out before, during and after the ceremony. One year of the perfect day to watch one of your best friends walking down the aisle to meet with the love of her life and having the honour of standing by her side.

No written rules about posting my favourite 10 memories from September on the 10th October so here we are (with the best picture last as always)

1. Dog sitting @mylittlepaola ❣️

2. Coming back home to @volarebologna after being away the whole of August (an enormous amount of time to be within an Amore Amaro)

3. Seeing one of my favourite projects for this year coming to life with @cicciobarosteria and @tristan.vancini

4. and celebrating there the send off into the world of retirement to one of our work legends

5. Bringing to life my second favourite project of the year (and potentially of my working life) at @romabarshow (but i’ve spoken about this plenty)

6. and visiting some great bars during those days (shoutout to @thepantheonhotel and @dario.comis in this particular case)

7. back also to partying in great venues

8. rediscovering the art of DYI and starting up on the witchy vibes thanks to @andreededonno24 🧙‍♀️

Questo Roma Bar Show è stato un mix tra il sentirsi un team Genius all’Apple Store e ballare latino facendo entrare persone con “hola buenos diassssssss” ma, nonostante lo stress, le poche ore di sonno e le decine di imprevisti, non l’avrei voluto in nessun altro modo.

A chi ci ha creduto dall’inizio. A chi è montato in corsa ed è arrivato fino alla fine. A chi ha allestito e disallestito. A chi mi ha supportato e mi ha sopportato. A chi ha guidato ore con la macchina piena. A chi ci ha messo il cuore, il trapano, i gessi, la forza di volontà. A chi ha stirrato, shakerato, servito. A chi è passato per un saluto. A chi ha ballato. A chi ha brindato insieme a noi.

Abbiamo creato qualcosa di bellissimo. Grazie ❣️

Careful what you wish for.

‘Cause one day you could be journaling about your desire to be speaking in public more. To have more chances to present your work and your ideas to others.

And the next you could be contacted by @alicebascherini and @luca_naj.

And then you could end up on the stage of their festival. As their FIRST speaker. In front of a few hundred people next to a random zebra cow and a goat.

And it could be one of the best experiences that you’ll live that year, surrounded by incredible people (which might become friends) and brands talking about timeless ideas.

And all because of something so small, like a postcard, which clearly started something much bigger.

Again, be careful what you wish for.

Ogni tanto mi chiedevi perché fotografavo, perché riprendevo. E io sapevo che sarebbe stato per prepararmi a questo giorno, quando l’unica cosa che ci sarebbe rimasta sarebbero stati fotogrammi indelebili di una vita insieme. Di foto e video come questi ce ne sarebbero a centinaia e ciascuno racconterebbe un frammento di te. Di quel nonno del bene silenzioso, dei gesti d’amore pratici e mai fuori posto, della saggezza puntuale e mai ostentata. Del nonno dalle regole rigide, ma in continua evoluzione, che ha accettato una famiglia più allargata e non convenzionale di quella che forse si era immaginato. Del nonno dalla carriera lineare che ha invece capito che ognuno di noi aveva diritto a trovare la propria strada. Che ha apprezzato il coraggio di trasferirmi fuori dalla sua amata Italia, trovando lui stesso il coraggio di salire sul suo primo aereo per conoscere la mia Londra. Del nonno parco e misurato che però non si è mai negato un bicchiere di vino perché in fondo “faccio fiaschi di cognome”. Del nonno con due grandi fedi, quella che non condividevamo per Dio, che non ha vacillato mai, anche nei momenti più difficili e quello che condividevano per la sua Giraffa e la sua Siena. Del nonno della Settimana Enigmistica tutti i lunedì, della spesa online, dell’amore incondizionato per la sua Arnalda. Di foto e video per raccontarti ce ne sarebbero a centinaia, e lo stesso vale per le parole. Ma qualche mese fa, caro nonno, mi confessasti che la lettera che avevo scritto per mamma e che avevo letto al funerale era troppo lunga. “Bella eh, ma non finiva più” mi dicesti con quella schiettezza pura che hai sempre avuto mischiata con l’ironia pungente che invece avevi ritrovato negli ultimi anni . E quindi mi fermo qui. Che non saresti stato sempre qui l’abbiamo sempre saputo, e quindi da oggi non ci resta che cercarti guardando il cielo, tra i prati di quel podere che era anche un po’ tuo, e in Piazza del Campo.
