2004 vs 2025. Better car. Better me. Same shirt. Most people chase a Corvette or a motorcycle for their midlife purchase, but those who know me understand what a white Sentra means. This one will likely have a far easier life.

After a long hunt, I finally found the perfect neo-vintage Rolex Date. Produced in 2002, and in unbelievable condition with virtually no bracelet stretch. Complete with full box set, booklets, calendar card, original warranty, both hang tags… the works. Upon receipt I immediately brought it to Merkley Kendrick for a full service through Rolex to ensure it’s ready for years to come. By far, the best part is the “K” series serial number it wears; a sign it was meant for its recipient, my wife Katharine. #rolex #rolexdate #rolexdatejust #datejust #15200 #watches #hodinkee #watchesofinstagram #rolexwatch #watchcollector #watchoftheday #watchlove #vintagewatches #neovintage #horology #wristwatch #instawatch #swisswatches #wristshot #dailywatch @rolex @merkleykendrickjewelers @hodinkee @amsterdamvintagewatches by @martinwesleyjames

From dating to engaged to married — this event has been a constant through it all. Whether it’s called the Rolex, the Land Rover, or now the Defender 3-Day Event, it’s become a tradition we look forward to every April. Through all weather conditions, it’s a world we love immersing ourselves in, surrounded by incredible horses, beautiful Bluegrass, and memories that keep growing with each visit. Here’s to many more years of adventure, memories, and us. @kentuckythreedayevent @houndnhare @j.wbennett @ariatinternational @ariatequestrian @cleverwithleatherky1 @rolex @landrover @j.wbennett by @martinwesleyjames

First #SpeedyTuesday post with the Omega + Swatch MoonSwatch—a tribute to the first watch worn on the moon and a longtime fascination of mine. That time @_nich_o_las_ and I embarked on the ultimate RoboCop pilgrimage—4,200 miles in 40 hours, racing through 6 cities, 4 time zones, and 2 conventions on a mere 5 hours of sleep—all to meet the legend himself, @drpeterweller, and the incredible RoboCop cast.

What we left with? Unbelievable stories, unforgettable memories, new friendships, and some truly one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

Here’s just a small glimpse of the madness. #robocop

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we received this beautiful Merkley Kendrick Love Story from @martinwesleyjames… 💕

💎 Nearly 20 years ago, I walked into Merkley Kendrick Jewelers—first as a customer, then as an employee. From day one, I felt like family. I learned so much from Mark and looked up to Brian and Matt. The experience stayed with me long after my time there.

💍 Years later, I met Katharine. Just as I had once told engagement ring shoppers, “When you know, you know”—I finally understood that feeling. I reached out to Mark, who prepared a few rings for a casual visit. That night, as Mark subtly showed us different styles, I picked up on what Katharine loved. A few days later, I returned alone and chose the perfect ring—still feeling like family the entire time.

🌅 Soon after, we traveled to her family’s lakeside cottage north of Toronto. We spent our days hiking, canoeing, and making s’mores by the fire. One evening, as we snuck away to watch the sunset over Lake Weslemkoon, I dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring that had traveled with us undetected, and asked her to be my wife. She said yes, and with that, our lives were forever intertwined. The rest of the trip was filled with celebrations as my family doubled in size.

♾️ Not long after, we returned to Merkley Kendrick to find my wedding band. Katharine and I still visit often, always welcomed with warmth and appreciation. We couldn’t imagine any other jeweler playing such a profound role in our love story, and we encourage everyone to experience it for themselves. ❤️

Forty. Over the hill. Midlife. Call it what you will—I’m embracing this milestone more than any before it, grateful to have made it.

Today, I’m in the best shape of my life—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I am present. Content. Fulfilled.

Here’s to this new chapter, welcomed with grace and gratitude.

Thank you all for the well wishes, and to my amazing wife for her love and suport. We celebrated with Jack Fry’s, home made angel food cake, a colossal macaroon cake, family time, a stage show, and a stay at the Shaker Village amongst other spoils. #40 #birthday #overthehill #jackfrys @jackfrys_ky #shakervillageky #shakervillage @shakervillageky by @martinwesleyjames

For 17 years, this Rolex Submariner has been my steadfast companion. It’s weathered car accidents, tumbles, oceans, yardwork, birthdays, funerals, and multiple jobs. Together, we’ve traveled hundreds of thousands of miles, with it acting as my silent, perpetual companion during many long layovers and road trips. Despite receiving less maintenance than it deserves, it has never let me down. Not once. A true testament to the quality tool which it is. I purchased this watch new, and am grateful for the opportunity to care for it until it finds its next owner, hopefully many decades from now. #rolex #rolexsubmariner #submariner #16613 #blusey #gold #watches #hodinkee #watchesofinstagram #rolexwatch #watchcollector #watchoftheday #watchlover #luxurywatch #horology #wristwatch #instawatch #wristshot
