Ever looked at a mountain and thought… I NEED TO CLIMB THAT! 😍🏔️ That was Dent du Géant for me. So I found the climb on @explore_share , booked with Elis @martis_elis from @peakshunter_mountainguides and off we went. ☀️🏔️ And what a day! 🔥 Dent du Géant is such a special climb - spectacular exposure, technical climbing, tiring fixed ropes pulling, a tiny summit at 4,013m and some pretty epic abseils to get back down. ☄️ A huge thank you to Elis for being such a fantastic guide. 🙏🏻 Super professional, calm, fun to climb with and an absolute pleasure to spend a day in the mountains with. Selvaggio blu, translated is “wild blue”, a trek along an ancient shepherds’ path on the wild coastline of Sardinia. For days we climbed mountains, scaled exposed cliffs tied to each other by rope, abseiled over the Sardinian sea, swam in hidden coves, and slept in caves beneath the stars. At night we gathered around tables in ovilis with glasses of wine, and life became uncomplicated. We ate big hearty meals where everything was handmade with love and care. We ate endless plates of culurgiones, roasted goat, roasted pig, there was wine and mirto. We ate illegal cheese. We were challenged to our physical and mental limits. When things felt unforgiving, and you wondered how in the world a Sardinian shepherd decided this was a reasonable way to get around, you’d turn a corner and below you would be the impossibly blue Sardinian sea. Then it would make sense. The landscape made you earn the beauty it gave. Through it all our guide @martis_elis @peakshunter_mountainguides kept us moving, kept us safe. His encouragement and optimism seemingly endless. There was no mistaking his love for this place and this sport. It’s what made us trust this journey. Le montagne che frequentiamo non sono immutabili. 🏔️ Anche ciò che per noi sembra parte integrante del paesaggio alpino sta cambiando: ghiacciai che si ritirano, permafrost che si riscalda, foreste sottoposte a nuove pressioni e una stagione della neve sempre più breve. ❄️ 🧊 🌳 Per chi vive la montagna, significa anche imparare a guardarla con occhi diversi. 👀 Secondo i dati riportati da ORTOVOX PROTACT LAB, oggi la stagione della neve dura in media 37 giorni in meno rispetto al 1970. Entro il 2100 il limite della neve potrebbe salire di 500–700 metri e, tra circa 40 anni, sopra i 2.100 metri potrebbe esserci il 30–50% di neve in meno. Anche i ghiacciai raccontano la stessa trasformazione: dal 1850 è stato perso circa il 60% del loro volume e la loro riduzione ha conseguenze che vanno ben oltre il paesaggio, coinvolgendo anche la disponibilità di acqua. Se siamo parte del problema, possiamo anche essere parte della soluzione. Come guide di montagna, crediamo che conoscere ciò che sta succedendo sia il primo passo per vivere questi ambienti con maggiore consapevolezza: nelle nostre scelte, negli spostamenti, nel modo in cui frequentiamo e raccontiamo la montagna. 🏔️ L’ultimo Gran Paradiso dell’anno è sempre speciale. Per le nostre guide è un momento in cui fermarsi un attimo e guardarsi indietro: alle tante persone accompagnate in vetta, ai piccoli e grandi sogni diventati realtà, alle nuove avventure condivise e a tutte le storie che, passo dopo passo, hanno preso forma tra queste montagne. Ogni salita è diversa, ogni persona porta con sé una motivazione speciale. Ed è proprio questo che rende il nostro lavoro così bello: condividere la montagna e accompagnare qualcuno nel raggiungimento di un obiettivo che magari, fino a poco prima, sembrava lontano. Il Gran Paradiso chiude la sua stagione, ma lascia tanta voglia di tornare lassù. ❤️ Grazie a tutti quelli che hanno camminato con noi quest’anno. Dent du Geant… Il Dente del Gigante… The Giant’s tooth…. 🏔️🦷 This mountain has been a personal dream of mine for several years.. 💫 but I didn’t feel ready for it. This summer I trained hard 🧗🏻 but nothing prepared me for what it was truly like! 🔥 Some people told me it was ‘easy’ because of the fixed ropes, some said it was ok, some said it was fine 🤣 but how I felt - it was pretty damn hard! 💪🏻🔥 D-, 4c (with the use of fixed ropes) but the endless pulling and the pumped out feeling in the arms after 5 minutes… 🥵 the ropes didn’t make it easy, they made it possible! I am so so happy I went with Elis @martis_elis an awesome mountain guide, introduced to me through @explore_share 🙏🏻. His chilled attitude and helpfulness helped me get through some tough times on the Crux and throughout the climb, especially on the terrifying abseil into the void ❤️.
