I lost my Mom (“Nanay”) when I was 13. She got very sick. These are the photos of her I treasure forever. I have missed her all my life. She’s the one who taught me to love books & reading. Grief they say is simply love that’s nowhere to go. I believe that & feel that’s she’s always with me. This is how I honor her memory.

January 26, 2024. Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve, Nortonville & Black Diamond Loop Trail. AllLies says 5.74 miles, but more like 7 miles, 1300 ft elevation. Moderate level hike, nobody’s there except a couple of mountain bikers. You could see the wind power farm across the lower Sacramento River in Solano County, from the peak. Good work out. We found beautiful manzanita trees, humongous pine cones, & gorgeous narrow sandstone paths in the last 1.5 miles of the trail. by @marveilous
